Rust never sleeps.....

Post by negativentropy »

Im embarrassed I caught this too late - but here we are. I had this van imported in 2010 and had a lot of good times...

Ive got frame rust in several places - the one picture being by far the worst.

Ive found a local welding shop that is able to do frame repairs, but I doubt whether its worth it. They are even willing to let me do the mechanical work clearing everything out of the way and then have a welder do the repair here at my home, but I dont know whether im up to it, and again, whether it would be worth it in the end.

Also, Im leaving BC next year so I have to sell the van one way or another.

How have others dealt with this?

1995 - 290,000km

the engine has an oil bypass filter on it and regular oil lab tests since I imported it at 100,000km - so it was babied. and the tranny got proper full fluid changes.
