Re: Pajero Minis?
There is a Pajero mini in our subdivision and it is an interesting small truck
My wife is looking for one.
I don't like this forum for Pajero technicality speaking. It is very much Delica specific forum. The mini discussion is on Pajero owners club uk forum site . Very good for Pajero technical and discussions

After a non-stressful day at work and an exhausting explosive evening, I enjoy sitting back on my couch and watching classics. If the mood strikes me, Skyrim is my current flavor.

Pajero mini is alright, if you want something a little more capable I'd go with a Suzuki Jimny(1998), should be available for import in the next year. They are solid axle front and rear, coils all around, super cool little trucks. If I had a little extra cash I'd be picking one of those up for sure.

Re: Pajero Minis?
The size of the Kei versions are virtually identical being that the size of a Kei class vehicle is regulated in Japan, but suzuki made non-compliant Jimnys as well meaning engine options (660cc-1300cc gas engines and a diesel as well) that the Pajero does not have. My sister drives a Subaru Sambar and the 660cc engine is on the underpowered side for Canadian roads, doable, but rough on the freeway. If you don't know the advantages of solid axles then you aren't going to be going off road much anyways which would make that advantage worthless to you (this being the main reason I find these vehicles attractive). The suzuki also has a longer production run for that bodystyle, meaning more options for replacement/upgrade parts. Finally, just to clarify, the Suzuki is called a Jimny, not a Jimmy.

Talk with CCAutos - he's seen quite a few Pajero Jrs in the past year and quite likes them. Prefers the manual transmission over the automatic, as he feels the auto is a bit under-powered. 1100cc gasser (I think he said).

Re: Pajero Minis?
The Pajero Junior is the mid-way between the underpowered mini and the full size Pajero. It has a 1100cc four cylinder engine, ABS, air con, air bags and is capable of keeping up with traffic without thrashing it. I was so impressed with them I bought my girlfriend one in place of her gas guzzling Dodge Caravan. We are finding that commuting to Nanaimo and back and using locally running the kids around we are getting about 30mpg. Not bad for a gasser 4WD !!!
I do prefer the standard transmission as the auto feels like its racing all the time, but red line is 7500rpm !!!

Re: Pajero Minis?
I was unaware that they came with a 1100cc option, sounds awesome, although I'd still prefer the solid front axle in the Jimny. I assume the 30mpg is US gallons, correct?? What is the reduction in the transfer case for low range (if you know)? That's one of the biggest disappointments in the full size Pajero for me, 1.9 reduction is just not adequate.

Re: Pajero Minis?
It wasn`t an option, the Junior is a completely different vehicle from the Mini and looks better too
Just that little bit bigger that you can actually get four adults inside
Not sure of the reduction in the transfer box, never had cause to use the low range yet but we made the decision on the Junior mainly for driving in winter on the highways. 30mpg is using US gallons. There is a Junior for sale at Five Star in parksville right now with only 32k on the clock. All preventative maintenance was done by us and the vehicle is in amazing condition. Looks like new inside.
