I need a phone!
I broke my cellphone, and the folks at Bell want to sell me another fone for like a hundred bucks, change my plan around and try to rope my into another few years contracts. Rubbish. I hate dealing with these folks. All I need is another Bell phone that I can put my sim card into and start using. It doesn't have to be nice, I don't need to get on the internet with my phone. I just want to make calls and text. Does anyone have an old phone laying around that they would like to get rid of for cheap?

I'll see if I have anything at work. It will likely be a blackberry though. That ok?

Yeah, that's ok. As long as it works! I'll probably end up breaking it in 9 months anyway. (I work in construction, so I tend to break things easily).

Do you know about Sonim?
http://www.sonimtech.com/index.php/en/products/device
When you own your own hardware, the cel service providers lose their grip on you...
"What plan are you on?"
"Oh, I don't have a contract."
"Did you know you're eligible for a free flip phone?"
"No thanks, I own my hardware."
"I'll transfer you to Customer Retention..."
Once you're not in the grip of a contract to provide you with a phone, you can get any reasonable demand you ask for. About twice a year I call up Bell Mobility and say, "I've noticed Rogers is offering a feature I don't have. Could you please add that to my plan?"
