Toyota 5vz Swap

Post by Feds »

Having paid for 2 injector pumps, a head, and the towing and downtime related to a failed injector in the last 4 years, I'm starting to consider how to get out from under my 4M40.

While I'd love to drop in the 6G74 I have in my parts pajero, it's just not going to fit. As it turns out, the reason those Aussies do the Lexus V8 swap is because the transmissions are the same other than the bellhousings, which are bolt on.

So now I'm looking at the 5vz, because it's cheap, available, and bulletproof. Plus, it looks like it fits pretty well

Biggest issue I can see is the accessories are on the wrong sides, but that's pretty minor fabrication in the grand scheme of an engine swap.
