New exhaust and brakes on my Delica L400... Where to go?

Post by We'veGotUsADelica »

Hi everyone!
I am new to this forum and am very excited about my new Delica. I ll pick it up tomorrow and it needs a new exhaust and new breaks ASAP. Any recommendations where I could take this baby for some good work on this? Anywhere on the North Shore? Or do I need to drive out to Richmond to CVi garage? Would like to do an oil change and filter change while I am at it. Would you recommend to do an overall servicing since it's new to me so that I know everything is ok for the winter?

Thanks for your help!

Many people on forum reccomend Hoeglers muffler in richmond for both good prices and good work. Any of the Delica shops can do Brakes - just stick with the shop that the prior owner used.

I would do some research on mufflers before diving in. I have an L300 but it is pretty much unanimous for L300's that a 2.5" exaust is better than stock. More airflow from engine = cooler operating temps = more power = better for engine = lower RPMs = Delica's just run better at lower RPM's because they are low torque machines.

I will be going to Hoeglers in December to get a 2.5" side-dump exaust for my L300. Apparently a side-dump costs only a little more than stock muffler. You really pay for a rear-exit 2.5" exhaust though. Also Quiet Muffler in Kingsway has done 2.5" side-dumps but apparently Hoegler's may be cheaper because you move out to Richmond.

I think this is the same for L400 but look around on site.

FYI - next time google "Delica.ca" plus whatever you are looking for and the answer will already be on this forum instead of starting a new thread on a common topic that will already be covered. Google will pick it up and give you tons of thread options.

Try this: http://www.delica.ca/forum/nxskis-encou ... ml#p108440. Christine and NIck have given a list of potential shops. Phone them and ask any relevent questions.

Yes Hog... is included in that list but that was the only mention of them I found and I've heard of most before. I do all my own maintenance if possible.

Good luck

Has anyone had any recent experience for cost comparison? I plan to shop around but I don't know what to expect for price for the exhaust for a L400 ? I want to compare rear exit vs side exit and 3" press bent vs 2.5" mandrel bent. I want side exit but I am worried it will get bashed up off road

I'm also looking at getting side exhaust done on my L400. Called Hoeglers and they said they wouldn't do it for me, "No custom work on Delica's" is what they said. Called Quiet Muffler on Kingsway and they are more than happy to do it and have done them in the past. Didn't give me a quote over the phone, but will let you know what they say when I go in.

Poochike,

Did you have a chance to have them take a look?

Apparently Dino Evo didn't have a good experience at Quiet Muffler: http://dinoevo.de/side-exhaust/
