leaking/ broken sensor

Post by pattonmaclean »

Hey All,

Spring has arrived in Saskatoon, but Jeanne-Claude Van Diesel (L400) is temporarily sidelined.

When I took her in for an oil change, the mech pointed out a broken/ leaking sensor below the rad.

He couldn't tell me what it was for, so I thought I'd guess advice from the forum.

I guess this could be linked to JCVD's sub par performance lately.

Again, is this something a regular mechanic can look after with the right part?
As you can see, the sensor slides right off the clip/mount it sits on.

I'll post a few pictures that I took today.

Thanks for any help,

Patton

That's your oil pressure switch, quite common for them to be leaky like that. Won't have any effect on performance but good idea to get a new one obviously. Easy to change, it just unscrews.

Don't go aftermarket ones I replaced 4 in the last two years until I got an original oem one a while ago. The dogs bollocks I say to oem. Go that route a wee bit meow $$$ but way less hassle
