Japanoid unresponsive (but read the thread, its not bad)

Post by mmilotay »

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone else in the group has ordered a vehicle through Japanoid and what your experience has been. I've ordered and put a deposit down on a Delica from them, but I have found them to be very poor at getting back to me and answering questions. I am at the point now of wondering if I should cancel my order with them, and go with another company.

Thanks,

Mark

Shogo has been on vacation.

I am satisfied at the progress of my order; I gave him a deposit on a Delica in July, it's on the boat and due at Annacis Island the end of this week, and I expect to take delivery early in September.

I put a deposit down with them in March and and they found me a really nice clean low KM unit with the options that I was looking for. When I called in, I sometimes had to leave a voicemail but Shogo always would return my call pretty quick.

Shogo & David have been really cool, no pressure and nice guys. I didn’t really have too many questions. Just told them that I wanted a clean 5 speed with the crystal roof at a fair price and they delivered. The have a nice service shop, I’ve been pleased with their service and have been recommending them to everyone who asks.

My bro just bought a Delica and when I get back to work I'm going to join the Delica family too. But where is the best place to buy a Delica? He bought from Japanoid in New West, but I've been eyeing maxium overdrive in Richmond, they seem to be well priced and when I went in there the girl that was working was more than willing to toss me keys and show me what they have. She even offered to take me to the shop and show me what is up and coming. But I've heard some bad stuff too so am hoping someone knows of other good placed to buy from.

Thanks

Steve

honestly, max overdrive overall is a good place. The negatives i have seen have come from interactions on this forum, and they all sort of come from an understandable place, protecting business, and trying to acquire more customers. Unfortunately certain things have led to certain people no being willing to shop there, but hey, your business c hoice is your business choice so i guess thats canada for you. I am very happy with my van from max overdrive, and theres not much else i would say. He's been friendly whenever i've gone in with a question. I have no complaints, honest, fair, friendly, not much else to say.

But since you asked;

I think I met about every dealer in the lower mainland and drove about 6 Delicas before I bought my Deli from Abbotsford Japan Auto, Shinji and Mayu Oue. Shinji was a Mitsubishi factory guy and nows the cars inside out. I think he could build one from scratch. Neither Shinji nor Mayu are great sales people and their english isn't great yet but they know the cars as well or better than anyone else your going to meet and they are totally straight forward. Also, Shinji can fix anything. Anything. You can see what they've got in stock and compare some prices here:

If Abbotsford isn't too far out of your way, its worth the trip.

Agree with Brett - have not met Shinji but friend with a Pajero swears by his company. I bought my Deli by private sale but the person had imported through Japanoid on quite a few vehicles - nothing but good things to say. Me personally - I visited Max Overdrive on a couple of occasions and found the organization somewhat disorganized. Not sure if just bad luck on my part - but never seemed to be anyone around to talk to who knew what was going on. Was asked to make an appointment for test drive on my second visit. Well - I live a bit of a drive from Richmond so can say I wasn't too happy about that. I did call in advance to be sure they were open and didn't think that test drives had to be "pre-scheduled". Interesting about the other post indicating keys are being given out so easily - must have been me I guess...Have been told that their service shop staff are very good and know what they are doing.

Visited Shogo this weekend at Japanoid and was given the Royal treatment - so have to say that from a business point of view - Japanoid gets my vote.

Hey Brett - also kudos for the heads up on Richard and Nathan at JRD - a little hard to find, but fast service, well priced, kept me informed all the way, and appeared to have reasonable knowledge of Deli's...bit of a rarity in North Van....tks!

I got an email this week letting me know that my Delica is in Vancouver, and will be ready for pick up the weekend of the 8th. I am feeling much better now.

I got an email from them as well; my Delica arrived in Canada last Friday, and, barring bureaucratic bungling, I too shall be taking delivery on the 8th.

This is the schedule Shogo quoted to me when I gave him the deposit, except that my Delica was due in to Annacis Island on the 25th, not the 24th. Not that I'm complaining.

8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

David from Japanoid delivered my Delica to the ferry terminal last night. I am immensely pleased both with the van, and the service I have received from him and Japanoid. David went above the call of duty, and my initial concerns have definitely been removed based on the contact and support I've received from him. I would heartily recommend buying a JDM vehicle through Japanoid.

Since all is well with your experience with Japanoid maybe we can ask somebody with computing POWER   to change the topic subject. "Japonoid Unresponsive" I have never dealt with Japanoid but I guess that if I first starting looking for info on the forum, that might stick out for me even though your end experience was very good.
Probably not worth the effort for the fine people that do the moderating, but just my 3 cents. :-)

Japanoid: two thumbs up!

Post by marsgal42 »

In the two weeks I have owned it my Delica developed a couple of minor electrical tics, so I dropped Shogo an email, drove by this morning, and his mechanic guy fixed the two loose connections (DRLs and pasenger's window) while I spoke to their ICBC guy about Territory Z and AirCare waivers.

Call me a happy Delica owner. But then, is there any other kind? 8-)

I have bought an S-Cargo and a Delica from Dave at Japanoid....since that time he has always been helpful in finding parts...got me a used part after a very minor fender bender. He is a really no pressure guy who I find to be 100% honest and I consider him to be a personal friend now. I put a deposit on a the Delica...took a while to arrive but after arrival they did a beautiful job detailing it completely...looked like brand new when I picked it up. Go with Dave.
