If the noise gets louder the more you turn it sounds as though the wheel being side loaded is a factor. Sometimes the backing plate will come loose or get bent and ride up against the rim or drum and make a racket. Maybe have a look to see how tight the wheel is. It could be excess run out from wheel nuts or bearings being loose.
