Fuel pump follies - Or how to diaper a Delica?

Does your Mitsubishi L300 make a strange noise? Need wheel alignment specs?

Fuel pump follies - Or how to diaper a Delica?

Post by cd_photo »

So I took my used pump to Northwest Fuel Injection today and it looks like they're roughly sticking to their $1800 or so amount. That's a bit of a kick in the financial pants, and now I have to drive around for probably a month with a van leaking fuel. (I have to drive back to the Kootenays and then come down later in the month to get the pump installed at CVI).

In the meantime, I'm getting increasingly uncomfortable about peeing out fuel everywhere as I drive around, and would like to get some diapers on my Deli. But I'm not sure how to put them on to make sure they're not going to get caught up in anything - or even where would be best to put them: just on top of the skid plate and cross member area where the fuel is mainly leaking? Right below the fuel pump. Anyone know the best spot to put a diaper in this situation:?

Best,

Colin

When I was in the Army, we used to install a engine diapers with bungie cords and whatever ww could find. It was practical always during our stay in BC! The enviro frendly province... Not that Alberta isn't if you know what I mean. But we would use a leather tarp big enough to cover the area, have the diaper in it then off we went! Good luck!
