Glad you'll be there Steve,
Now I can show you my rig, last time it was painful seeing everyones Delicas and having to ride shotgun for James while mine was parked back in Williams Lake (not that James wasn't a great host!).

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
Sound like were starting to get a good group together. I have been looking for trails to drive, and have a couple of questions for those coming so far.
1. How challenging do we want the trails to be?
2. Do we want to do day trips out from my place, or do a longer overnight trip (about 3-4 hours pavement, lots of logging roads and up over a mountain) to Barkerville?
Let me know what you think. Also, there is plenty of lawn space for tenting and very good neighbours (don't mind some noise ) and of course the use of the bathroom and the lake. If we do day trips, you may want to bring mountain bikes and we can arrange some shuttle rides to some of the trails. If you're into fishing there will be some opportunities if requested.
Looking forward to seeing everyone,
James

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
James,
My answers all depend on how long my van is out of commission for the WVO install. Are you working friday? Perhaps I should come down thurs eve and we can get a jump on things... and challenging is good, but I do have to be able to drive the Delica home after! so not to challenging.

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
Morning guys,
Don't worry Josh, your just adding a second fuel system, there'll always be that nasty diesel stuff ready to run. I'll bring a good supply of zap straps and duct tape to hold up any part's not properly attached to your rig. Did you pick up a system and a tank? With the cost of a installed WVO system (though I heard another good review of the fellow up on Cobble hill) think we would have a huge crowd. Francois is off for a month so he should (better) be there.
James is there fish right in Chimney Lake? That is the lake near you right, think it'd keep my son happy for a bit letting him row around in my boat.
We'll be trying to start getting up that way friday night.
Cheers,
Kev

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
Kev,
I'll be up there thurs night if James will allow me to stake out that early... otherwise by fri eve for sure. Yes I got a kit on its way from plantdrive. And still humming and hawing about the tank. You think that polyethelene one is a good idea from http://dansperformanceparts.com/buggy/f ... yfuel1.htm? I was debating the aluminum one. Wouldn't it be easier to attach the hotfox, and all that? Or should i just get the poly one? it would save a bundle. (and what about fuel guages?)

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
Josh,
Come down whenever you want, I will make sure I can take Friday off.
Kev,
There is fishing right in the lake here. I have an aluminum 12 footer with electric power, or an unlimited selection of kayaks so you don't need to haul a boat unless you use it on the trip home.
Mitch,
Be good to see you up here, there is a box of goodies with your name on it at the Shred Shed. Well be sure to have a few of the neighbours canoes.
Everyone else,
Since people coming up will have had lots of driving, it may be best to find some closer trails. There should be some good mud up on the hill as it has rained alot lately.

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
James,
Guess we will have to weld on some pullhooks, so we can yank eachother out if someone gets stuck? I need some anyhow.... by the way have you made a roof crate yet? or roof racks? I need a set of racks for a canoe. I am doing Bowron lakes on the 9th (about 6 days i think)...

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
James, thanks for the offer to use your boats! I was planning on bringing my 8' dingy cause after your place my son and I plan to drive to Bella Coola. A little visit to the family's homeland has to include fishing, though it is going to be one full van (I can't lift the boat to the roof nowadays, but will be bring a cargo topper)!
Mitch,
Mitch,
Definitely, don't quite understand that but you have great art work Steve.watch out for the pitchfork caribou joints! James neighbors are one of a kind, keep an eye out for some of my "hobotron" artwork on the porch.

Re: Cariboo Delifest 2007
Josh, go with the ploy, it'd be repairable right. Map out your planned system in detail, can't stress that enough. Also have you bought a whole host of goodies like; hoses, hose clamps, inline filters, etc. Don't know how much of a drive to a parts store it is from James's and nothing slows down a project like having to run to the store for one dinky item. It's also surprising how much fuel line you need for a rear mounted WVO tank.
Mitch, howooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Cheers,
Kev

I would like to invite everyone up for a meet the weekend of July 7th, 2007. Josh, BCDelica and myself have planned a bit of a WVO conversion and 4wd excursion. I would invite everyone to attend. There is lots of lakefront camping available in my yard. Please reply to this thread with your confirmation. As the time draws nearer, a map to my house will be provided.
Come out and enjoy the glory of BC's Cariboo and take part in the conversion to WVO of at least one Delica.

So far it looks like we have the following in attendance:
asorensen
josh
BCDelica
gondaff
monkeyman
If I missed anyone or plans change, let us know.
I am trying to find something to make a map on. Mapquest isn't too good for rural BC. Hopefully something tomorrow.
You can plan to arrive July 6th or 7th. We will tackle the WVO conversion on Saturday, there are more options for parts. Tell stories on Saturday night. And go play on Sunday.
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
