Coast to coast on a tank of diesel...?

Post by mblack »

Greetings all,

Making my way across this nation (again...) with my dogs, but this time on Veg! I'm just putting the final touches on my PlantDrive install, with much thanks to those on the forum that have posted tips and pics. Presently running diesel through the VO side of things and all looks good, now to replace the water pump, cut into the coolant lines and have a true test before my departure.

I'm looking for filtered and dewatered oil from anyone that can help. I'm starting in Kimberley, making my way to Vancouver via HWY 3, then across to NB and NS. Departure date for Vancouver is May 27th, then leaving Vancouver May 30th and back through on HWY 3, then via Lethbridge etc - it would take another post to explain my chosen route... I will have a trailer in tow which should have enough room to carry extra oil if available and hopefully do the trip on a single tank of diesel....

I'm going to post the same on fillup4free, but thought I would enlist the help of this group as well.

Many thanks,
Matt

hi
you might get lucky with fillup4free, but it is really quiet over there...
powell river is a little out of your way, but if you come here ill GIVE you 200 liters of WVO that has been settled then cleaned through a centrifuge. just bring an empty barrel, or cubies.....
im on fillup4free on the map, in powell river...

Good for you!

I did it last year, return trip 12,000km on less than a tank of diesel. I should be around when you make it to Vancouver and will try to brew extra oil for you, just PM me and we'll exchange ph. #

I can also hook you up in Winnipeg and Montreal if you're interested.

Cheers,

After Oil, thank you for the very generous offer. Unfortunately I wont have time to make it up the coast to Powell River....although I wish I did.

David, thank you for the offer too. I have PM'd you with my number. Contacts anywhere along the route are greatly appreciated as well!

Awesome! Thanks!

Hi Matt - happy to donate some oil. You could likely also get some from our dealers in Canmore and Winnipeg (Torie Carlson in Canmore and Simon Liew in Winnipeg). If you go the lakehead route and are near Orillia, you might be able to find some via our dealer there, Will Cox. Marc Amsden in Montreal might also be able to help out. Those guys are all listed on the plantdrive.ca site as dealer/installers.

Jake in NS might have some oil, too.

Hi Ed,

Thanks very much for the offer! Greatly appreciated. I will be coming through Salmon Arm Sunday night and will get a fill if that works for you. I'll also contact the Plantdrive suppliers - thanks for that.

Great!

Thanks

If you come to the island, I have oil to get you going also,

Is Torie still in Canmore? I thought he moved to Calgary to work at the hospital?

Torie is still in Canmore.
He commutes to Calgary with a TDI Jetta, converted with a PlantDrive kit, and with the custom aluminum tank that we sell for those.
That's the one that allows owners to carry the full sized spare (tank and spare are in a recess in the tank, tank is in the original well), have almost same capacity as original tank (which is used for diesel), and have entire space of trunk available. :-)
