What low-cost options are there for a multi-purpose rack for 95 Spacegear low roof?
To carry canoe(s), bikes or gear.
I do have access to a good friend- cert welder, and his shop.
I wonder if there is part compatibility with Hyundai Starex vans of the same year.
If so, i might be able to find a used rack here and bring it with me when i come to Canada for the summer.
I've found 3 new here that fit the Starex van. $150, 250 and 320 U.S. Maybe not a 95 Starex, though.
Maybe the page will work

hmmm...the page goes to a generic parts page where you can search "roof" and see some of the racks I'm talking about.

Re: Roof rack for a 95 L400 Spacegear?
I'm looking for a rack for my low-roof L400 too. I know enviroimports make great-looking skookum stuff; I need something that I can take on and off relatively painlessly (low parkade donchaknow)
I notice that Thule makes a 425/426 fit kit in Europe for their racks; haven't found any over here, but has anyone found a CanTire or PrincessAuto one that'll fit?
Looking to form the base for a little home-made tent platform for my two kids. Total weight on roof including platform and kids oughta be well under 200 lbs...

Thanks,
I checked out rack attack and could not find a match for my vehicle in the drop down menus. Might be worth a call, though.

You won't find your vehicle on any NA websites Rack Attack is a good place for sure, but they usually need to see the vehicle to find the right rack.pattonmaclean wrote:Thanks, I checked out rack attack and could not find a match for my vehicle in the drop down menus. Might be worth a call, though.

I emailed them with a picture, but might have to visit there when I pick up Jean-Claude Van Diesel in June.
The ones at enviroimports look great...pricey.... though locally made.

I have 2 sets ready to go now, both are for a High roof L400, using 1/4 thick aircraft grade up rights, Stainless steel hardware, and a 1.5 thick round tube for cross bar, you wont be able to break them, U bolts can attach to them for roof top carriers and easy to tie your stuff to.
Let me know if you would like a set, $425/pair, and I believe they are still cheaper than buying 2 kits to build one set of the aftermarket versions and they look pretty bad a$$ also...

Rack Attack does offer a pricey solution to getting a rack on a L400. $515 for the Thule 953.
The 8" clearance is $85 dollars cheaper than the 11" one. Does anyone have experience with either? Has anyone blown a rain gutter out with 11" of leverage?

If you like these ones shoot me a pm and I'll let you know where you can have them made. I spent $300 on these and another $29 for shipping.
