Metal fuel can?

Post by fexlboi »

Hi,

I'm looking for this kind of metal fuel cans. If I carry extra fuel on my Delica I don't want this ugly looking red plastic cans on my roof rack. Do you know where I can get one of this?

Also a general question, because I'm new in Vancouver: Where do you buy high quality car accessories and aftermarket products? I already checked Canadian Tyre and Princes Auto. Both a pretty disappointing.

Thanks for your help.

Pretty sure diesel cans are yellow now. Still not as cool looking as the one you seek.

Thanks snelson and after oil for your tips. This plastic cans in tan colour look neat and I would also save weight too.

Do you know why there is a version for gasoline and one for diesel? Do they have different specifications?

The Scepter ones pictured at DSTactical are from the US Military, they are not the usual colours for obvious reasons (target). There shouldn't be any difference between the specs of a gas can and the diesel ones other than one is marked "Diesel" and one "Gasoline". You can't even buy that can in the US at the moment, military freeze on them.

Correct for the coloring, military or otherwise: diesel is yellow, gasoline is red, and water is blue. That being said, if the can is colored 'tactically,' it will have the contents embossed into the side ("DIESEL," "GASOLINE," or "WATER").

The metal ones are outdated - Scepter now only makes the plastic ones. The prices indicated in the other post are about average (can't get much better than that unless used).

I just bought the yellow ones from Canadian Tire: 20$ sounded like a good deal, and I wasn't trying to put the cans into the special carrying rack. I built a holder instead to bolt into my roof rack.

This yellow Diesel-Jerry cans from Wedco would be great, but after a few days of calling/looking around there is no way to get them in Vancouver or order them online.

Because I want to paint the can white anyway I'm thinking to buy just the gasoline version and fill it up with diesel. Any legal concerns?

Any ideas other ideas where I can get Wedco cans?

Thanks Golf Cart. I posted the link to Expedition Exchange already in my last post. They are sold out of yellow and blue jerry cans. Also I want to avoid shipping from the US. I thought with such a big Canadian off road community it should be available here as well. Unfortunately not (as far as I know). I wrote a email to Wedco (update: bounced back so I'll try to call them). Maybe they know a shop in Vancouver.

How do you know they are manufactured in Montreal?

Fexlboi, have you tried "North Shore Off Road"? I think they might carry metal jerry cans. I was in there the other day with Fishslapper and I am sure I saw them. Give them a call.

Regarding Angell's post: Is this to do with the subject matter? If so can you translate it to English please?

Falco.

Note bene: I deleted "Angell's post ~ it was spam.

Thanks. I really want to go to North Shore Off Road soon, but the problem with them are the bad opening hours. I basically have to take extra a day off to go to this shop.

It is at NSOR. It's just like in the picture you first posted, metal, red with a big G indented and it's $56.40 + taxes. They are open Monday through Saturday. Saturday it is from 09:00 to 16:00hrs.

But that's the shop in Surray, isn't it? That's a long way from Downtown :)
At least on their website is no information about Saturday at the North Vancouver Store.

Negatory, that is the shop in North Vancouver, just off the bottom of Mountain Hwy., south of Main Street (NV) ~ I went there today to ask them about the jerry cans. They have half a dozen of that model on the showroom floor.

I think Monday to Friday they are open from 08:30hrs to 17:30hrs, Saturday is 09:00hrs to 16:00hrs.

Here's their number: 604-985-8444.
Here's their URL: http://nsor.com/
