Mounting Interior panels
The previous owner created the rear side panels (over the rear speakers) using drywall plugs through the plywood into the holes that normally house those white plastic interior clip thingys and it works pretty well. I tried doing this with the rear panel, but the the drywall plugs just ended up spinning in circles. I thought maybe I can put some glue/epoxy on them before pushing them into the interior panel clip holes, but wanted to see if anyone has a better idea?
Ideally I would be able to convert all those mounting holes into nuts so I can just use bolts for easy-on easy-off as this is a work in progress, but I don't want to create a rust issue with metal-on-metal if possible.

I'm basically leaning towards steel rivnuts, but not sure if there are better options either cheaper or better holding power. I guess as long as it's STEEL it shouldn't cause any corrosion ...
Came across a specific rivnut brand name "Plusnut" on campervan building blog, but they don't appear to be very available and mucho $$$
Also while I like the dinoevo.de build using neoprene, fatmat, etc. I'm trying to source something simpler / recycled / repurposed to keep it economical, but still reduce dust/vibration/mice entering thru this area ...

*Also could a moderator move this to Delica modifications. I originally intended to post there, but made a mistake and think it's a better fit?

Steel Rivnuts should work just fine, get zinc plated/passivated ones. Corrosion shouldn't be an issue on the interior panels as they won't get wet. Well, not too often. There are already plenty of steel self-tapping screws driven directly into the metal (all those earthing screws, aircon duct retainers, etc) and they don't show any signs of rusting- on my van, at least.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Also what is that black (air inflated?) bag directly to the left of the rear heater controls? It's between the two sides of the body steel ~around the behind of the seatbelt area.

That's your aircon duct. It runs up the A-pillar into the ceiling vents.

So if I've binned my aircon compressor and the stuff infront of my rad (but only hacksawed the metal lines going rear) I could tear it out no harm?
On another note I got rivnuts for 9mm holes (since that's what I measured, maybe 8.5mm I mean metric ruler isn't the most precise way to measure diameter). I got 100 for $9 - but the same item is now $33 on Amazon lol, but all the other thread sizes are also $9. They're 1/4-20 thread because I figured less expensive bolts in hardware store.
7mm is the next size down, but I've hear tight fit is essential.
Hammer?
Drill?
Pros Cons?

with Riv nuts as snug a initial fit as you can get is a plus... They work really well however for most thing.
