You're welcome Ian. Nice change from before/after. 8-)

On an L400 note, I just finished an install for a customer.

This one went from one extreme to another.

The stock L400 was sitting on 27" tires (17x10" rims / 40 series tires). Although it was a rocket on the street, alas, offroad it would do nothing. So a lift was put in with a fresh set of 31" BFG AT boots.

The effect before/after is quite noticeable. :-D

Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth on these lifts. I purchased one and had Jesse install it a month or so ago and am verry happy so far. I would have posted earlier but I was waiting to try it off road first. I still havn't got off road with it :-(. On road it is great to drive with though the bigger tires have slowed me down some. It also realy looks good in my opinion. Thanks Jesse and Ill have more to say when I get it off road.

Looks great Lars.Have you cranked up the boost yet?It should make a big difference with your power.

No havent done the boost yet. I put the 2.5" stainless exhaust on and now Im trying to get/waiting to see if there is an extra snorkle availbe from the last group buy to open up the air intake first so I dont have to tune /dyno twice.

It does. That's the best thing you can do for the little 2.5 to breath better. You'll feel/hear the turbo spool faster as well.

Hi all,
A few weeks ago I had Jesse do one of his lift kits for my L400. The service he provided was excellent and any questions I had he was able to answer. The van feels more stable than before when I drive. Next on the list will be bigger tires and rims, new bull bar once Mardy sorts that out and as a reminder Jesse we talked about adding a tire carrier on the back like the ones you modified for the 300's.

Hi there was wondering if you still had any of those 1 inch ball joint spacers left. I'm interested in a set for my L300 Delica. I don't need the larger shackle because I want to add a leaf spring and get them retapped. I already have new Bilstein shocks in the front and have cranked and realigned my torsion bars.
So basically all I need is the balljoint spacer and the appropriate bolts

Hi Jesse, thanks again for the spacers. Below are a couple of pix of the van with the lift and 30" x 10.5" BFG Mud-Terrain KM2 tires. A great setup for every season. Leaf.

So the front lift is created solely by re-indexing the torsion bars? Are they able to match the 2" lift from the back or will the van be angled slightly?
Is this not an issue with new shocks because I know the stiffer ride and strain on the shocks can cause problems if the torsion bars are cranked a lot with no modifications!? I'm not too informed on the procedure and would not attempt it alone but would also like to know of any areas that might be put under unnecessary strain...

Front lift is created by re-indexing (turning via spline) / cranking (turning adjustment nut) the torsion bars. You can gain up to 3" of lift this way but it's not recommended as the CV angles and ride will be very harsh.

A .95" taper upper balljoint spacer is installed to help counteract this.

While both techniques can provide the same amount of lift, the ball joint spacers will afford a softer ride and more suspension flex compared to the cranked torsion bars for a given ride height. Why? The more the torsion bars are cranked, the tighter they get and the less likely they are to allow for full travel. With the spacers, you get the added ride height of the spacers without the need to tighten up the torsion bars as much, so the suspension can flex more. As far as the suspension and steering components go, there is no difference in stress or wear and tear on them at a given ride height whether that be from cranking up the torsion bars or running the spacers. So running the spacers gives the advantage of increased suspension travel over simply cranking up the torsion bars.
