Re: Found recipes for more power, looking for help to implim

sounds like Cummins time..... or a gas motor... it is only a 2.8L diesel and remember "no replacement for displacement" is it trailer weight or trailer wind resistance? I suspect your solution is in streamlining the trailer/truck now... I agree with your assessment that streamlining would...

Re: Found recipes for more power, looking for help to implim

G6 After all these mods I hope you get the trailer pull power you're seeking. Thanks for the friendly sentiments:-) Today I hitched up the trailer and dragged it from Vancouver to PoCo via the #1 then up the Mary Hill bypass. Then, over to Pitt Meadows and southbound over the Golden Ears bridge. Th...

Re: Found recipes for more power, looking for help to implim

I finished the steps to increase the fueling as per the recipe in one of the links in my first post. It took me about 2 hours to go through everything, but it probably would have been less than an hour if I wasn't so cautious with triple checking everything along the way. There were a number of wire...

Re: Found recipes for more power, looking for help to implim

British threads arent imperial, well they are measured in imperial measures but arent known as imperial, they are Whitworth threads. Saying that though, most things are metric here now. But I wouldnt trust anyone that couldnt identify a thread, its really not that hard! Thanks for clarifying that f...

Re: Found recipes for more power, looking for help to implim

I ended up installing the boost controller yesterday. Drilled a hole in the firewall, passed through the remote control cable, spliced into the boost line going from the turbo to the waste gate(had to replace the factory hose), and then went for some test drives. My pop off value would trigger aroun...

Re: Newbie Delica Shopper

That's what I was thinking, but I am a newbie too. Looking to get into an L400, but joined so I am not going in blind. A good friend has an L300 but my boss (aka wife) hates the ugly awesomeness of them. What about importing directly? I see ads for that. Too much hassle? I'm in same boat as newbie ...

Re: Found recipes for more power, looking for help to implim

I'm thinking you aren't going to get close to 20%. Hopefully you don't hurt it by overheating or toasting the turbo. These L400's aren't power horses. You may be right about my not hitting 20%, but others have reported hitting about that while still keeping their vans reliably towing during Austral...

Re: Newbie Delica Shopper

Just noticed someone mention my L400 :-D Considering 0 people have come to look at it in over 1 year of being for sale even when I had the $5000 blowout special odds are that is what will be happening. $5k blowout special??? Crap, that's an awesome price for a van with all your mods and features. R...

Re: Newbie Delica Shopper

And can be modified like any other l400. I'd definitely prefer a series 2 over a series 1 if the prices aren't too different. But as a small point of clarification regarding the ability to mod a Gen1 vs Gen2: I believe the series 2 uses an electronically controlled diesel pump vs the mechanical pum...

Re: Newbie Delica Shopper

Q) Do all gen 2's have the LSD or just the 9.5" rear diff A) All have 9.5" rear diff, rare to find LSD unless on Royal Exceed Q) Also can you get a gen 2 with a bull bar, or add one, seems like a possible paint saver when the road gets tough. A) I think I've seen some aftermarket bull bars...

Re: Battery drains when idling with front & rear aircon runn

If you are idling and wish to see your battery charge register well above 12.5 with the two fans and accessories running you will need to purchase and alternator that is rated for a high amperage at idle . Basically you could purchase a 150 amp alternator and it would not make a difference unless i...

Re: Newbie Delica Shopper

I think you should start test driving the different versions and get some hands on experience before you narrow your scope(ie. L300 vs L400, LWB vs SWB). When I was looking for my Delica, I spent a few months and test drove about 5 or 6 before finding my current ride. Personally, I preferred the add...
