hey I too am from California and have lusted after weird import vans for years (& I too, own a subaru 360 van...not nearly as nice and complete as yours) after owning many (5) USDM starwagon vans, I bit the bullet and bought a JDM 4x4 diesel (an 86') just a few short months ago...love the thing....

often times the key from an older toyota/datsun or other japanese import vehicle (must be old/used/worn key) will open the door of the l300! (some finesse and patience required)

I've used my 77 toyota corolla key to open my 90 starwagon and 86 delica !
