Re: Torn CV boot, replace boot or whole axle?

if its not torn all the way around just clean and sew it back together, then give it a coating of shoe goo glue or something similar that is flexible. takes 5 minutes. Way cool idea for temp fix...... do not think I would put much longevity expectations on it. Would be curious to see how long it la...

Re: Torn CV boot, replace boot or whole axle?

So, the axle would need to be removed in either case, and put back in, so why not go for a new one if the labour to change the boot is more than the axle? Personally I would charge another 20 min or so to re-use old one........ have to take apart and clean (one clip and easy, but still a good excus...

Re: Torn CV boot, replace boot or whole axle?

For $200 that better be for the inner boot........ in which case labour for the axle should be identical if not cheaper; would not have to clean up the old one. Be cautious of the upper ball joint, the middle of the three mounting bolts goes right through the knuckle. It will be nicely siezed in the...

Re: Beef with Rising Sun and Assiniboine

x2 with the dealers............. I'm the first one to bitch about the "local" guys and often buy online for quite the difference in cost. However, I never do hold it against the dealers, local competition vs big biz online or down south or just the bigger guy would be difficult, x5 with th...

Re: Very high Idle Speed about 1200rpm ???

does not sound like IP (so to speak), there is cold/warm idle adjust above/on top of IP that sounds like it needs adjustment (heavy spring attached to this part). There is a nice step by step in the manual, if not search forum, I know it has come up before. It may take a couple adjustments alternati...

Re: Sound system in the l400

I have a LWB, so my 12" sub and huge box fits behind the last set of seats with ease. I'm not sure that you are limited as to what you could put in the back, there may be an attempt at conservation of space and usability. Keep in mind that when you look at the wavelengths as sub size that a 12...

6.75" for the front if I remember correctly......... re: subs, put 2 10" shallow mount subs under rear seats, put amps between and run box right to rear door and create a small storage with lid behind rear seats....... Never did install all my stereo before I had to sell....... have the su...

Re: Engine oil

So, besides the stats and research (company funded of course)....... how many here have had pre-mature engine failure do to the "quality" of the oil and oil filter? Seems to be over the decades that regular oil changes with standard oil and filter maximizes life of an engine just fine. Jus...

If you have time and source, "re-nozzling" is ok........ if not, new from ebay.uk is similar in price............ and well, NEW! There have been other threads on this, searching seems to be an "art" vice and acquired skill........ that and lots of tries.......... Cheers!

Re: Trico Force Wiper Blades fit RHD!

I did exactly that on my Delica......... I do not know if I miss them, but I find that they do not always have the replacement inserts available and they I look at the fuel and time factor to find them......... The one time I did do that, only took a couple minutes per blade, pinch the sides togethe...

Re: Trico Force Wiper Blades fit RHD!

yup, $12, $50...... both will work exactly the same when new, both will have stiff rubber and better off replacing in about 6 months or so........ I shoot for the lower end. It's about as bad as people filling with more than regular gas (unless higher compression engine), if you like giving money aw...

Re: Stereo systems

I am going to take some measurements this weekend to see if I squeeze some 10"ers under there in a custom box. That was my plan, I bought (still have) 2 shall mount 10" subs that will fit boxed under rear seats, there is enough room to put the amp between the two. Was going to run the box...

Re: Tyee Imports BEEEEEF!

Since I started looking into and purchasing JDM around here (comox valley) about 5 years ago........ one thing that remained constant, "stay away from Tyee Imports". I never did go near them, heard many a story about them buying the cheapest P.O.S. vehicles at auction, hiding the flaws and...
