Re: Injectors
Didn't go out and pull a lifter yet this morning, but I did take a look through my service manual, and I am indeed wrong. There are 37 different thickness' of shims in .025mm increments, ranging from 2.250mm-3.150mm. A good reminder for me not to always assume that I have been given the correct info...

Hwy 6 & perimeter
Saw a nice l300 as I left Winnipeg today, around 5pm. Was parked in the stock pile yard at the jct of Hwy 6 and the perimeter hwy. Big orange 4X4 on the side, some kind of box liner on the roof, crystal lite. Maybe Sooperandy?

Re: Voltage regulator part number
Yes, the regulator is internal. If your still in Saskatoon, shoot James (firesong) a pm. He had a shop there rebuild one of his, and he may even have a spare kicking around.

Re: Turbo Waste-gate Replacement
Yes, as Yojimbo said, changing them is easy, getting your hands in there can sometimes be tricky. The ones I have installed, have a threaded portion on the rod, that is used to set the correct boost pressure by either lengthening or shortening the rod length. which ever style you get, if you don't h...

Re: The OZ perspective
Ball joint spacers change the geometry of the front suspension, as it changes the angle of one A-arm, but not the other, and puts added stress on the ball joint mounting area of the upper A-arm. A low profile bump stop, which will also give you up to 2" of lift, does not change the angles of th...

Re: Injectors
I could be mistaken on this, my info on this was gathered from a well respected Delica mechanic from across the pond, who I conversed with quite often before I brought my first L400 over in the summer of '09. I was told the lifter was a hydraulic type, and the shim was a sacrificial surface designed...

Re: Voltage regulator part number
I don't know the part number, but when I was in Thompson a couple of years ago, my alternator kicked the bucket. I removed it myself, and took it into an alternator/starter repair shop near the end of Weir Rd. I can't remember the name, but they did a good job, and quick. I walked in with it in the ...

I would strongly advise not using starting fluid. The only thing starting fluid should be used for is seating the beads on tires. You would be better off to pour a tablespoon of gasoline in the intake, but be very careful, as this can also be dangerous/fire hazard.

Sorry, when you said that in the original post, I thought it was a misprint and you meant humped. Getting it welded might be your quickest and most economical solution.

Re: Need oil pan for Pajero 4M40
Will the oil pan from your old 2.8 not fit onto the new 2.8? I haven't swapped an engine from an l400 into a pajero, so I'm curious as to why you can't just use the old one. And sorry, I don't have any other suggestions for suppliers.

Re: Injectors
There is no valve adjustment on the 4M40, the cam is directly overhead on a hydraulic type lifter. Your saving money already.

Re: Need oil pan for Pajero 4M40
Where abouts are you? I can probably source one for you from my parts supplier, they have a couple pajero's for parts, and have changed a few of the 2.8L's, but if you are closer to BC than I am, it may be just as easy for you to contact them and check. I only have the l400, l300, and 2.5lpajero pan...

Re: Injectors
Diver is right, that if the injectors are worn, a cleaning won't help. It also won't help if the injectors are weak. Getting new tips, and having the cracking pressure reset is what needs to be done, but it is usually only a diesel shop that has an injector pressure tester. Replacing the tips only w...

Re: A 1989 Vanwagon for your amusement
You will need to check your fuel pressure. For most fuel injected engines, you need a minimum of 40 psi for the injectors to work. To test this, you need to hook a pressure gauge up to fuel rail. If you have fuel pressure, Check the injectors next. Ask around to see if anyone has a set of noid light...
