Hhmm... Tobi definitely didn't like the sound of that :-(. Where did you see it? Is it a BC Parks thing?

Re: A suggestion for an outdoor adventure location(s)?

I second AfterOil's recommendation... the Sunshine Coast is wonderful even if you don't go as far as Powell River (2 ferries). The Sechelt area has tons of water (fresh and salt) and some nice, relatively easy backroads to explore. There's lots of walks and hikes to some beautiful places and the sc...

A suggestion for an outdoor adventure location(s)?

I am looking for ideas for outdoor places to explore, leaving from Vancouver, that will ideally combine all of the below: - Nature and wilderness - A bit of off-road driving - Hike - Water (river, lake, ocean) for the puppy dog to swim Can be a day long adventure, or an overnight. Would appreciate s...

Black smoke when climbing?

I was on a trip last week, part of which took me from Portland to Bend, climbing the area of Mt. Hood. Strangely, I noticed quite a bit of black smoke from the exhaust when climbing. Only when climbing. It never happened before, and stopped when the climb completed. About a week before the trip, I d...

Hey everyone, Takin the Delica down the Oregon Coast from Vancouver for a couple of weeks... are there any concerns crossing the boarder? Things to expect, watch out for, bring with? I did a search but didn't find much on this topic. Any bad experiences with regulations etc? Thanks FlashJ No proble...

Bio Diesel and impact on hoses - problem?

Hi all, While doing a regular 5,000 service at CVI, I asked Butch about the impact of bio-diesel on the Delica. So far, it has been regular diesel, but as we shift into a warmer weather (yes, I know it will happen), I plan to use more and more bio-diesel. Right now, I am on a B20 (20% bio, the rest ...

Re: How long should brakes last?

Doesn't sound right to me Pink. How long a set of pads lasts though, does depend on driving style. Watch the cars in front of you going down hills - some have brakes applied top to bottom while others will light up here and there at most. Use the transmission to slow you going down hills, starting ...

Re: Computer Issues - Need a Deli-Geek

Always put encryption on your wifi router. Otherwise you may as well post all of your private pictures and files from your computer on the net for everyone to see. Once in an open wifi nw, getting into someone else's windows OS is easy. Be secure. With WIndows, indeed... but not when I am on a Mac,...

Re: Computer Issues - Need a Deli-Geek

The discussion of wireless security reminded me of a thread on Slashdot ( http://www.slashdot.org ) a couple of years ago on wireless security and access. The most diabolical setup was somebody whose wifi was wide open, and anybody could connect to it. If the owner connected, everything worked fine...

Re: Computer Issues - Need a Deli-Geek

At work we have Shaw cable internet, and it's fast . But we pay for that speed, more than a residential customer would. My home internet is Telus ADSL. It's fast (though not as fast as Shaw at its fastest), and the data rates are more consistent than Shaw. Both are fast enough for streaming video, ...
