L300 Glow plug relay clicks but glow plug light stays on

Just realized I never posted the follow up to this. I've had this happen twice now. I pull into the garage with the low fuel light on, running fine, then the next morning it cranks and cranks but won't start. I've since discovered that adding a couple of gallons of diesel and repriming the fuel syst...

Yet another starting thread

Well...Never mind! :-D After spending about 5 hours combing through the technical libraries both here and on the UK site, I gave up and called the guys at Rising Sun to see if they had any idea what it might be. I told David what I had and hadn't checked and he got it on the first try...the one fusi...

Yet another starting thread

1988 L300, diesel, manual transmission. Running perfectly one minute, won't crank the next. I am bad about jumping in and cranking without waiting for the glow plug click. Jumped in, immediately turned the key, starter turned over once, then remembered (again) to wait for the glow pugs, turned ignit...

L300 Glow plug relay clicks but glow plug light stays on

And won't start. Ran fine all day, and was very low on gas when I parked it, then couldn't get it started. The click tells me I'm getting voltage, so I will ask a dumb question since I'm not a diesel guy (yet). I don't think I ran it out of gas but if I did would that have anything to do with the li...

Replacing flywheel/clutch, what else to do while I'm at it?

I'm replacing the flywheel, clutch and starter, on my MT l300, I've heard you should replace the bearing in the middle of the flywheel as well as the thrust bearing. Any other things I should do while I'm there? I've heard of people running stronger gears, my Reverse grinds if i don't put it in rev...

Trico Force Wiper Blades fit RHD!

That *does* look familiar, I've definitely owned a car with that style wiper arm, but I don't recall what it was. I can even picture changing the blade holders: Push the little catch on the end, and the pin slides out. My thought is that an '88 is fairly early, maybe wiper arm style was something t...

Trico Force Wiper Blades fit RHD!

I replaced mine a while ago. Don't remember anything special. Pull the arm back from the window, pivot the blade to form a T, push in on the retaining clip at the end of the arm (where the arm forms a U) and pull the blade down the arm slightly. The blade should pop right off. That's pretty much wh...

Trico Force Wiper Blades fit RHD!

Sorry to resurrect this old thread, but I am having a hell of a time figuring out how to replace the wipers on my 88 l300. I actually bought the trico replacements, but there is no way that i can see to make them fit. At the risk of sounding dumb(er), to replace the wiper, are you supposed to pull t...

Re: Headlight Nightmare

Just for reference, the headlamps I have, just need the front of the mounting brackets and yes I do have the four separate ones. I'll take a look, thanks Falco.

Re: Headlight Nightmare

Didn't want to start a new thread - I had a similar experience changing mine. Short version of the story, out of four bulbs, there were three different types of bulb between sealed beam and drop in, and different number of terminals on each. So I ended up getting LED headlights, and had to download ...

Re: Manual hubs for a l300

Good point Larry, I know a lot of guys don't engage their 4WD until they get into difficult terrain. I, myself, prefer to engage 4H the moment I leave the tarmac. Where I grew up, most folks operate under the philosophy that 2WD is for getting you in, 4WD is for getting you out, at least if you are...

Re: Manual hubs for a l300

Hawkdrver- I think if you take the cover off your front hub you will find you have the permanent type hub like the one below. Vans with the Auto hubs have the center cut out of the cover which show the auto hub. ( At least it looked that way to me from your original picture) I borrowed the picture ...

Re: Manual hubs for a l300

Auto hubs are prone to failure if you dont treat them right. Thanks - I figured it was something like that. I drove a CJ-7 for years that had all 4 hubs manual and a rear full floating axle so you could engage the rear locking diff and still have 3WD if case you broke an axle. I love me some Warn m...
