leaking fuel pump
Working on solving a leak and want to replace some O-rings without removing the whole pump. The main leak is coming from the distributor head high pressure pump (the thing in the middle of the fuel injection lines). What kind of specialty socket can remove that? It has three flat and three round sid...

Balance Shaft Belt
Had the tensioner on my balance belt break and shoot bearings all inside the timing cover which caused my timing belt to jump a tooth. I managed to pull the front of the engine apart, clean out the bearings and re-time the engine while on the road. I've driven nearly 700 miles since the issue with n...

Re: great power --> low power+noises --> won't start --> :(
That's nasty. :-( If the cam bearings are damaged, it's new head time. What a pain! Thanks for sharing the pictures though. It looks like only the front-most bearing seized. Do you think the heat might have warped the head? What is the potential damage? The van is still under the power train warran...

Re: great power --> low power+noises --> won't start --> :(
Sorry, I meant cam pulley bolt, not crank.
Looks like a bearing seized on the cam shaft which stopped it from turning, at which point the torque on the cam pulley twisted off the bolt. Once the timing was off, piston on cylinder four came up, hit the valves, and broke the rocker shaft.

Re: great power --> low power+noises --> won't start --> :(
Bad news... Belt was fine, but the bolt holding the crank pulley on sheared off and melted itself to the plastic timing cover. Least I found it. Upon opening the rocker cover, I found that the rocker shaft had broken right after the fourth bolt back. The fifth bolt, at the back of the rocker shaft h...

great power --> low power+noises --> won't start --> :(
The sequence of events leading to the problem are as follows: 1. Removed EGR and installed block-off plates: one on small exhaust tube, one where EGR was. 2. Small exhaust tube could not handle the pressure and broke off. Super loud + no power+exhaust blown directly into engine bay. Engine was black...

Re: Black smoke, loud noises, low power... Is my turbo bad?
Thank you immensely for the post about skipping teeth on the timing belt. That was the exact problem. I lined everything up,followed your instructions, and fixed the problem without trouble. You've saved me from so much stress and wasted time.

Re: Black smoke, loud noises, low power... Is my turbo bad?
Man! Thank you for this info! I'll tear into it this weekend and find out for sure. The more I think of it, the more your idea seems right. It was on a particularly hard downshift when it happened, and as I believe, all the belts are relatively new and might need to be tensioned. fingers crossed.

Black smoke, loud noises, low power... Is my turbo bad?
Please help! I was driving over the weekend and heard my engine instantly get louder after downshifting. Here are the symptoms: - low power - black smoke on acceleration - engine sounds more like a tractor (knocking) - oily turbo (especially around seals) - cannot hear whistle of turbo at light revs...

Last i saw Silk road auto in Surrey BC off of King George Hwy had a couple of poptop L300 s Thanks for the reply! I called them today and they are fresh out. Karim of Silk Road said that it is possible to do a pop-top conversion on a low-roof L300 through their guy for $5000 USD. :/ Seems spendy th...

Delica Wanter from SEA, WA, USA
Hi Delica.ca! I've been stalking this site as well as many other delica dealers just searching for the right match. I'm trying to buy a L300 with a pop-top. It has been suggested that I can buy a hard-top and have a pop-up installed, but I only now have limited information regarding this mod. Give m...
