Engine Oil in Turbo, lack power, some blue smoke, black smoke under load,
Thanks for all your replies. 204explorer: if you just press the gas pedal normally, there is no air at all, only when you floor the gas pedal then air and oil spitting out. Sounds like I need a new turbo. Anyone know the part number for the 1994 Delica Space Gear L400 2.8L Turbo diesel? I have quote...

Engine Oil in Turbo, lack power, some blue smoke, black smoke under load,
Hi Everyone; Still working on my 1994 Spacegear 2.8 L Turbo Diesel. My delica started with whistling sound, then later lacked power and blowing black smoke under load. We thought it would be a simple intake manifold leak. So this week I changed all 4 intake manifold gasket, which was a pretty diffic...

1994 spacegear whistling sound with gas pedal, loss of power, black smoke
Thanks guys for your feed backs. I talked to one of the guys at Coombs. He thinks it is the intake manifold gasket leak, which I think is what TRUTHautomotive is saying as well. So the whistling sound is the air leaking out from the gasket, and when it got worse, the loss of power and black smoke du...

1994 spacegear whistling sound with gas pedal, loss of power, black smoke
Thanks for your insight TRUTHautomotive, it does make sense what your are saying. How do I fix an exhaust leak (blown gasket) between the manifold and the exhaust side of the turbo? Should I order a new gasket maybe from RisingSun? I actually don't even know where the gasket is, but will do more rea...

1994 spacegear whistling sound with gas pedal, loss of power, black smoke
Thanks for your response TRUTHautomotive; That sound like a fun thing to do repair at middle of the night between Ft. Nelson and Whitehorse! you have a good chance to get abducted by aliens. So you think is the EGR stuck in open position? all i have to do is use a sheet of metal to block the...

1994 spacegear whistling sound with gas pedal, loss of power, black smoke
Hi Everyone; I have a 1994 Space Gear 2.8 Litre Turbo Diesel. About the few months ago I noticed the van would have a whistling sound like a jet engine while driving, it was not loud and everything seemed fine and I kept using the van without any issues. My last trip I was driving to Cranbrook, runn...

1994 Space Gear 2.8 liter diesel radiator leak
I have been warned the radiator in the Delica are plastic and needs to be replaced as soon as possible. I just noticed coolant leak coming out of the radiator seems to be at the joint lines. The engine temperature gauge went up higher than usual. So now my Delica is parked in the garage. Is it advis...

Re: 1994 SpaceGear 2.8 L Diesel Auto Trouble starting
I tried to charge the batteries this weekend and it appears the batteries can not hold charge. So I am pretty certain the problem is the 2 batteries. So I am off to Costco for batteries. I assume most deep cycle batteries rated for over 650 will do or do these delica use special batteries?

Re: 1994 SpaceGear 2.8 L Diesel Auto Trouble starting
Hi Falco; thanks for clarify the application of grease is after the connection is made. I was wondering about that! I took the battery connections off today and brushed with toothbrush and baking soda solution, no visible corrosion. Had run to work so will reconnect the battery Saturday when I am of...

Re: 1994 SpaceGear 2.8 L Diesel Auto Trouble starting
Thanks for all of your great responses, I will be getting a battery charger and try to charge up the battery. Do some connection cleaning, and if all that does not work, I will be looking into the starter. By the way, where is the starter located on these beasts? I took the under plate off, can see ...

1994 SpaceGear 2.8 L Diesel Auto Trouble starting
Hi Everyone; I just bought my 1994 SpaceGear 2.8 L Diesel Automatic Van this winter. It started fine after parked in the garage for 4 months, after a hour driving in town I parked in the driveway it will not restart again. The first crank almost started the van which ran rough, but after that, it wi...
