We are planning a road trip to Mexico at the end of the year, and want to know if we can take out the rear seat without too much trouble. Need space for the fur-kids and stuff. Any advice?? Anyone done such a trip with any pointers or hints?

Looking for any upgrades to camperize your delica? Simple things I've done to mine is making camping alot easier. I left my rear seat in and worked around it. C/W two kids a dog, wife and I complete with all camping and surf gear with room to spare. Martijn

We're going to get a hitch put on and tow a small trailer down, something we've been tossing around since we got the deli anyways. That way, the fur-kids can go in the back, lots or room for 4 passengers, and all the bags and stuff go in the trailer. We're thinking of taking some camping gear with us, maybe do some camping in Mexico, but not decided yet, and we have almost 6 months to figure out the details.

We won't be camperizing the deli, as we have more than the average amount of camping equipment, as we have a wilderness camping company, sleeping in the van would just seem wrong, unless it was an emergency. Although, I think I finally managed to fix the stupid curtains this weekend so they aren't flapping in the breeze all the time. Yeah! :-)

I vote for the westfalia roof conversion, Larger exhaust, and fresh rad coolant . sweet sounding trip, and if you convert to wvo for aditional fuel you will get free fuel all the way to mexico, im jealous, but then im going to asia this winter not mexico. ya ya, i know its nothing to do with the seats, but i just had to say it lol

I'm interested in hearing of your (cheap) tips and tricks as we're looking at how we might better use it for camping while maintaining it's convenience as passenger vehicle. My preference would be to leave the rear seat in, although I have removed one captain chair and am enjoying the extra open space. I'd be happy with the ability to sleep one kid and one adult in the van (another kid and adult can use the tent).

I've done little so far, other than replace the interior bulbs with LEDs (used a blue bulb at the step as it's less glaring at night) and added some marine style folding cup holders. And I bought a wee folding step stool from Can Tire for 10 bucks. It's great actually as it stores easily and our 18 mo old can now scramble in and out. I'm giving some thought to mounting a length of c-channel aluminum to run a tarp through for an awning.

PS I did the seat wobble fix tonight on the removed seat. Great fix for 20 cents and an hour's time!
