Skid Plates for L400s?
I have searched the forum (possibly not well enough?) and I have not seen Skid plates for L400's. I have seen lots of posts for L300 skid plates, but not for the L400. Given the problems known to the Oz crew (I would like a T0me bash plate, but they are probably an arm and a leg to ship to Canada!

Are they even able to go offroad? They look too 'pretty'...Mr. Flibble wrote:I have seen lots of posts for L300 skid plates, but not for the L400.

Well, if you can bring a Pajero on pavement as a Princess, why not a Deli as a mud wrestler?mararmeisto wrote:Are they even able to go offroad? They look too 'pretty'...Mr. Flibble wrote:I have seen lots of posts for L300 skid plates, but not for the L400.

Re: Skid Plates for L400s?
The verdict on the Australian bash plates was a no-go, the seller said he was out of stock and not making more for a while, he also said they were too heavy to ship, and generally refused to ship them...
I do believe however that the diagram was posted somewhere on how to make them if you have a shop capable of doing it...
For myself, my L400 came with an extra skid plate up front, that while I suspect isn't a perfect solution, likely increases the strength up there by a significant amount. I also removed the bolt that sits under the oil filter (it doesn't seem overly necessary anyway, and is just more likely to cause issues if you do hit in the wrong spot (flat metal is less likely to puncture the filter than the end of a bolt))

Re: Skid Plates for L400s?
I'm doing the lift kits so I may as well look into the skidplates.
I'll see if it's feasible for me to get into making them here and get back to you guys in this thread in a week or two.

Contact "Fishslapper". He is currently making skid plates for the L300s. I would imagine that gearing up for the L400 wouldn't be a long stretch.
Falco.
P.S.: There is a guy in Australia called Tome, who makes them and may or may not ship. He calls them "bash plates". If you contact him, say hi from Falco.

Ah, yeah... I overlooked that. Good to see you are on top of it, Mr. Flibble.

What T0me wrote me regarding the bash plates was:
So, it looks like it is pretty hard to get them here, and they will probably be *VERY* expensive to ship.T0me wrote:I've never found a shipper to take the bashplates to Canada and nobody there has followed up to find a company to ship them themselves.
I look forward to seeing what the more "local" people like jfarsang and possibly Fishslapper can do.

Lift kits took over since it was a big project to tackle by myself.
I'll take my skid plate into the machine shop and get a quote.
If you don't hear from me by Friday, shoot me an email @ jfarsang@gmail.com
email I answer right away
Cheers

After seeing Fishslapper's for the L300, I'd love to see something like that for my L400!

Re: Skid Plates for L400s?
Resurrecting my own old post - has anyone seen or heard of skid plates/bash plates for the L400 in Canada? I know I have seen some that come over with plates already attached, but I have never seen a plate for sale in Vancouver or anywhere on this forum for that matter.

Re: Skid Plates for L400s?
I don't think anyone came up with a design for one, and there is a problem with installing one anyways: it hides the oil filter and oil pan drain plug. At least, that's what I saw the other day when I was trying to help someone learn how to change their own oil.Mr. Flibble wrote:Resurrecting my own old post - has anyone seen or heard of skid plates/bash plates for the L400 in Canada?
