I know the L300 has shorter gears on the 5 speed..
any info related to this would be awesome..

Not sure of gearing on the 5-speed L400, but I can give a big thumbs up to their highway capability.
My 94 L400 5-speed has lots of highway miles, both flat and mountainous. No problem at 110kph with power to spare and comfortable cruising at 120kph.

That interesting, if the gearing is really the same as on a 5speed l300, then the revs are really high at 120kph. Still comfortable?

The gear ratio's in the L400 transmission are different than the L300.
The L400 5spd cruises just like the auto on the highway.
