It's easiest from underneath - both for removal and for re-installation. No bending or prying of anything out of the way...

And the WIX is a better filter. As is the one for big trucks (name escapes me at this time). Cheaper too.

I'm not a big fan of doing oil changes either on the deli - filter is in a terrible location and I always get messy and have not found a really good way of improving my technique. The filter is a bit tight in there for sure, but with a bit of wiggling it come out and gone in ok from the underside. First oil change I failed to tighten it enough (thought it was, but just slightly bound - not cross threaded) - spewed oil everywhere shortly - a few more good turns and all was good....now I'm a bit more careful.

Inland Kenworth uses luberfiner - my good friend has worked for them for years and told me a whole bunch of technical mumbo jumbo about the type of filter material they use and the micron of particulate something or other - he lost me...but certainly was very passionate about the quality. I've used them ever since. I tried to get the part number but the delica wiki is down for some unknown reason.

Well, I'm shite as a mechanic, but even I have no trouble changing the oil. Underneath, slip a rag under the filter and the catch pan on the ground. Once the filter is free shift it so it's aligned vertically - hole facing UP!!! and wiggle it a little to guide down and out. Piece of cake - Just be patient and go easy.

Has anyone on here thought about a oil filter Relocation kits?

I just had one made up, alot more heavy duty than what I could need, but when getting it done, I changed the end filter to a GM filter so my oil changes would be cheaper, the filter I went with now only cost $7/filter
I do have to get some Hydrolic lines made up so that will cost me some money , but the filter relocator kit was done for a case of corrona so, thats hard to beat .
what do you think?

for the quality of the parts I ended up with , I would have bought him a keg and thrown in some cash, I have a T fitting on the top now so one end will be going back to the oil passages, and the other will be fed into an oil pressure gauge and up onto the dash. This would work Very well for an L300 also as there is so much room to mount it in front of the radiator
This one in the pic is for my L400 and going to a duramax oil filter,
the L400 oil filter in stock location is in a GREAT spot for changing the oil, but also the first thing to get hit if I run over ANYTHING, really a silly spot to have no protection. I have the sturdy Plastic bash plate, but I think in our winters at -20 and colder that would snap like a twig from any road debris and we are going up to smithers this winter a couple times. so i need to be protected against all I can, Going to be CCCCCCCCOOOOOLD ......

I'm sure you're pal would like something other than cases and cases of beer for his work: what's the cost for the setup and some hoses? I'd be interested in this arrangement myself because although I'm adept at getting the original off-and-on, something easier would definitely be better.

I will check if he wants to make more. but he just did mine over a couple of breaks so its not a production piece. but he does have the cad file now.... the oil lines will be 3/4 and steel braid, I dont know what the final bill will be. I want it to be as nice a job as he did on the two pieces.
to actually book a couple hours of his time would only be worth it if alot of people wanted a kit, like ten or so, then it could be booked in as a job with his employer, not just a lunch project....
I will see what he says, but I also don't want to have a shelf full of them if people don't want them after its all paid for....

Scope out the price and let us know. I would be interested. It would be nice to have a remote mount spinoff tranny filter as well. Maybe
they could both mount up under there somwhere safe and easy to get at. I used to work on cat rock trucks that had all the filters grease
lines and oil drain lines run to an easy access station on the side. It made service work so much more fun!

I will for sure , we were just up there for a wedding last month
but did not see any delicas, this trip we are coming up in
the black royal l400 as the heated seats will be a bonus
for the trip , actually a chance we will buy up there ,We both fell
in love with the area and having family up there is a bonus

I had thought about some kind of remote oil filter flange for my L300. This is just what I was envisioning. Excellent looking job !!
