After a painful winter (-50) when my block heater and dual oilpan heaters AND batteries failed, I've convinced my better half to "allow" me to buy a fuel fired heater!!

Can anyone from experience recommend a heater? or even sell me one???

Any help would be mucho appreciated

Hi there, I have been considering one also, as I know them from past sailboats. Havent seen one installed, but you should PM to LazyBrownFox, as he was researching the various choices. Space is the big issue. Various people say go to a trucking wreckers. Let me know what you find out. Cheers, Christine.

Hey there, I also drool over those systems.. I talked to an installer for Webasto, and he told me he couldn't sell the unit to me, and he wouldn't install except on approved vehicles... And it would be well over $3000... Too bad. A friend that lives in Grand Prairie, however, had an Espar unit installed by a mechanic in Grand Prairie for just over $2000.. It worked brilliantly, and I was quite envious. I went with a cheaper coolant heater from a piston ring, for $70. I tapped into the coolant lines driver side near the rear heater unit. A better spot might be under the fuel filter, but it was so awkward and I couldn't figure out good mounting.. It really worked well for me this past winter with plenty of temps below -30.... MAnitoba.... I would recommend it if you can always plug in, but the best is probably a good block heater properly installed if you can't afford the Espar unit. Good luck for next winter.
