Lower or bust!

Hi,
So I bought myself a loft last week knowing that I would either have to sell my Delica or have it lowered as the parking garage height is 6'8". At least it claims to be 6'8". I went and took a few measurements the other day and in places the sprinkler knuckles are more like 6'7". To be totally safe it seems to me I need to figure out a way to lower my Crystal Light Delica to 6'6"!. Admittedly I am not overly mechanical, I've read about cranking torsion bars and removing leaf springs but am looking for any other opinions or options I may have so as not to have to sell my ride.
Thanks for your time, Jason.

Have you thought about to sell you high-roof and get a low-roof Delica?

Yes, that would probably be the way to go. If you lower it, I would worry about tire clearance....especially in the front on turns and such. Unless of course you wanted to go
with smaller tires....which would probably look pretty silly.

Sorry, can't do. (or it will cost you big $$$)
You can lower your van by 2" by re-indexing your leaf springs and lowering your torsion bars but anything else becomes a real challenge.
I've done it to my low roof and she now sits at 6'4" but the compromise is that I can't load her up at the back like I used to. Still a truck but a little lighter duty...
Try a trade with low roof. The ones with the big moonroom are just as bright in the back.

I have a P25 (low roof). Fits into just about anything.
Falco.

Thanks for the reply's. Hmmmm... I hate the thought of trading my Delica. If I wanted slightly smaller tires would they fit on my existing rims?.
Thanks again, Jason.

Yeah you could just go with a lower (lower being the key word) profile tire ! Sure ,but that will only buy you an inch or 2 max i think.
I suppose if you did the other lowering things as well as lower profile tires you might just make it.
cheers and good luck

How about airing down your tires, then reinflate. Install a little tire compressor (Felix Fexlboo found a sturdy small 12 volt tire compressor at north shore off road, keeps in a little kit in car, plugs into yr cig lighter). Obviously not a good thing to store deflated. We have 30 inch tires, compared to folks with 29 inch tires we sit about 1 inch higher. Need to ensure your rims will fit smaller size tire profile securely.
Cheers, Christine.
