do you know how much higher the roof is in models with the Crystal Lite roof? I'm wondering if a flat roof would feel a bit cramped in comparison.

I'm not sure about what height difference (if any) exists between the models. Personally, I would be careful when looking at Delica models with the Skylight that opens (I've seen two now with very serious rust issues).

I personally like the Crystal-Lite version, as this creates a truly unique look to the vehicle (provides for ALOT of sunlight).

Be aware though that most downtown parkades have a 6'8'' height limit (or thereabout). I shudder to think about the CRUNCH of a Crystal-Lite van owner underestimating the height of his van!

I've read some of the problems that people have had with the sunroofs, so I'd be inclined to go with the Crystal roof. However, I plan to put a rack on the roof for skis and bikes. The slightly lower flat roof might be nicer for putting bikes on the roof (as well as for ferry/garage clearance)

BC Ferries height limit is 7'

Delica is almost exactly 7' as well, so deflating your tires slightly might work (provided you don't have a roof rack of course)

The parkade where I work is 6'8" - Delica owners are well advised to stay clear!

Mark your old Delica measured 6'10" plus, but with new tires and the front torsion bar tighten brought it up to a true 7'. Having your front aligned and lifted by tightening the torsion bars is the best improvement I believe that can be done to all these 15 year old vans. Then they ride nice and level.

We just returned from Edmonton, the Van was a great family travel vehicle, and I will try and post some pictures soon.

And don't let them try and load your Delica upstairs on a BC ferry, they tell you your not over height but it's just way too close. That's the reason we don't have a antenna anymore.

wow, a fellow Powell Riverite! well..used to be..aint lived on 'the island' for about 14 years now.

Hi Jeff,

Powell Riverites always love their hometown, do you get up this way often? I have only lived here for 8 years, and our family loves it. We fish, camp, boat, wakeboard/water-ski, and generally love getting out into the backcountry or a nice beach somewhere.
The Delica has opened up a few new picnic spots for us, we get out often all year round and have a camp fire lunch or dinner. Camp fires are a great way to get ride of dirty veggie oil to boot.

Sadly, I only manage to get back there once a year on average. Until one moves away from PR, one never realizes how good one has it there (well, except for the ferries, but then it would be crowded and I'd hate it).

I was on BC ferries a couple weeks ago and noticed something about their heights... the "underheight" price is for up to 7' tall, but the clearance bars on the upper deck list 6'8" clearance... that's 4" that is still the cheap height, but has to go on the lower deck... definitely worth trying to fit in those 4 inches...
