We will have an Anniversary Sale on November 11 to Dec 11 for 4D56 injection pump Overhaul & reseal - $400 (regularly $550). The service includes Removal & Installation (with correct injection timing), Complete disassembly, ultrasonic cleaning of pump housing & governor sleeve, Replacement of all o-rings and seals, and finally Reassembly.

From my opinion, if the injection pump leaks, there is no need to recalibrate the pump on the machine if the engine runs well. We do a lot of diesel calibration in Manila, Philippines (being authorized by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines to do all their engine machining and diesel pump calibration) as the driving conditions there is on the extreme side. Even the quality of the diesel and extreme outdoor temperatures affects the internal parts of the injection pump. There are a number of shims that wears down and thus contributes to the enrichment of fuel during operation. Bringing the adjustsments of these shims back to original specifications will bring the pump back to standard. To make the story short, the delica's and pajero coming from Japan were generally not subjected to such extreme driving conditions (ie. traffic, dust, extreme outside temperatures, fuel quality) which would merit a complete recalibration of the pump in this case. Basic replacement of seals and o-rings and washers is all thats needed to solve the initial problem of the injection pump - leaks.

We hope this Anniversay Sale can help out and improve the performance and economy of our ever reliable 4D56 diesel engine.

More Power :-D

So I decided to take this opportunity and go for the rebuild.

Well all I can say is thanks to Butch for allowing me to hang out at the shop and watch the removal and rebuild process of the IP. Edwin explained almost every piece of the IP as he was re/re. I forgot most part names by now. Me bad. As well I had the fuel filter replaced.

Btw, i had at least 6 cracked or flat o-rings. Lost count because i was in awe at how many pieces it takes to make up th IP.

Cheers!

Sounds and running good so far. But i'm thinking this could be a trick question.
Can't say what i will expect down the road though. Except for a leakless IP. : )
Maybe a bit better fuel economy especially with the replacement of the fuel filter.
I already get 500kms on a 62L fill.

Ha! I'd LOVE to get 500km per tank! No we don't have heavy feet at all (often under the speed limit), but almost all our driving is city driving on the North Shore... hills. Hardly ever are we hwy driving (one short trip to Horseshoe Bay ferries a couple of weeks ago was the only time in the past two months). I'm thrilled if I reach 450km.

When we drove to Sorrento we were getting 550km.

No, I don't beleive I do. Would be nice if I could though. :-)
deLOOKA works hard when carrying 100lb rack , 4-5bikes, and that many passengers when shuttling.
