Replaced the front shocks this morning. Went farily straight forward however should mention that the rubber bushings that come with the Pro Comp 9000 shocks are waaay too thick to be used. I had to reuse the old bushings. Luckily they were in decent shape. If I tried to use the new ones, they were too thick and there was no way to put the top nut back on.

Noticed a difference in the ride for sure. Doesn't bounce as much.

The old shocks I removed, I could compress them easily by hand, and they would't spring back.

My question is what do I do with the old ones. I don't want to throw them in the garbage - though they are useless. Do some parts places take them back for recycling???

Metal Scrap/recycling.

For next person to tackle this project, you could also trim those rubber bushing to make them fit (that's what I've done). That way you have new rubbers...

Initially I wasn't that impressed with my ProComp until I re-indexed my torsion bar. Now I'm a happy camper. The shocks feel the way they should.

There are two non identical sides on the rubber bushings. Trim the ones with the smaller offset using a bench grinder if you have one or a file... that should work. WHen installing, you need to lift the upper shocks using a lever to get the nut on.

like i say before all this delica came fro japan no matter what kms it got low or high it need to change unless they already change it over in japan, but replacement Shock not original. then you'll see if the replacement is still o.k. & then your fine. if original all of them need to change.
thats why i change all the shock of all my delica.

One more update for someone about to do this...regarding the rear shocks.

Jack up the frame of the delica, (placed the stock jack under the rear tow point) and you'll save your shoulders. I was trying to install these without jacking the vehicle at all, it works, but man....I'm sore now.

I smartened up after trying a few times to do the install (and forgetting to install the little metal piece along with the rubber bushing - oops) and raised the body/frame with the tires still on the ground. This gives you a few extra inches which makes compressing/installing the shocks a breeze.

Front and back shocks are now installed, and what a big difference. With the fronts replaced I noticed a difference, but with both replaced - huge difference.

Next task - replacing glow plugs.
