Anyone out there own or worked on a gas Delica ?? We just got one in and it looks and drives very well but I do not recognise the engine from anything I`ve seen before . Still has all the Delica querks but no black smoke and noise !!!! No turbo oil leaks ........ because it doesn`t have one !!!!

Hi Glenn,
I don't know a lot about the Gas (petrol

) L300's because they are virtually non-existent here in the UK (due to cost of running a thirsty petrol @ $2.16 litre!!!

)
What engine code has it got? Is it the 4G63 2.0 litre or the 4G64 2.4 litre? chassis code I'm guessing is something along the lines of P24W/P34W??
If you can give me a little more info (i.e. everything off the VIN plate) I'll see what I can find for you... :D
Maybe see you in a few weeks.... 8)
Regards,
Bruce.

Would it possibly have the same engine that the Van Wagons had which were sold in the United States?

Is it the 2350cc 4G64 engine? If so, "Autobarn Parts" shows many many part numbers for that vehicle. (1990 Mitsubishi Van Wagon).

If it is the 4G64 (which is most probable because I think this was the most common gas engine in Japan for the L300) then these cars also share the same basic engine (albeit in different states of tune!)
- 1988 Mitsubishi Galant
1988-1990 Mitsubishi Van
1990-1992 Mitsubishi L200
1990-1992 Dodge Ram 50
1990-1996 Mitsubishi Mighty Max
1989-1991 Hyundai Sonata
1996-1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS
1999-2003 Mitsubishi Galant DE & ES
2000-2005 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS & RS
2003 Mitsubishi Outlander
2001-2005 Chrysler Sebring coupe/Dodge Stratus coupe
The Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder have quite a following in the US especially on the tuning front, so there might be some pointers to make an L300 with some SERIOUS attitude!
ANOTHER reason to leave these shores.....cheaper gas = more willing to put some proper power through the Mystery Machine!

My manual I ordered off teh UK site has instructions for 'petrol' engine as well as diesel. But I think its talking about a 1.6 litre? Its in the van right now but I could look into it more if you like. Seems like you have a few manuals already with the kind of work you're doing on them though.

The one I have is a 4G64 2.4l gas . I was not looking for technical specs as I do have the manual . I am looking to see if anyone owns one and what sort of known problems arise with this set up . I do like the idea of tuning it though ....... hmmmm a high performance Delica , maybe I should look at lowering this one instead of trying to lift it ???

If you're going to the meet - I'll give you the 'low down' (literally!) on the low-rider project that Mark Giles and I are planning!

Front end fairly easy - back axle....we've come up with quite a few options.... :D :D
Cheers for now,
Bruce.

If you're after performance why not swap the head with a 16 valve dohc head from an 1st generation Eclipse GST/GSX, or swap the whole motor out for the 2.6l 4G54BT out of a starion? Both "bolt up", but the wiring harness and ecu also need to be swapped over.
