Hi there, does anybody have any suggestions about installing
block heaters in delicas? i.e what kind/size of block heater,
where to get, and also installing tips? Or perhaps you have
other suggestions for starting / keeping my delica running
in the cold ab winter.

I have a 1992 delica exceed.

i am also looking for someone in the edmonton area to do a
tune up on my van, but want to make sure i bring i somewhere
where they know what's going on, Does anybody have any
suggestions for garages/repair places that specialize in diesel
and won't hack up my vans engine, but treat it real sweet?

Amazing Auto did a block heater for me when I got my van tuned up last month. If you search the forum there is a post about what block heater to install and where it goes. I did have a lower rad hose heater, which was "okay", but not on -25 days. Would still start, but didn't like it much.

As far as a tune up I thought about getting my van tuned up here in AB, but then just waited until there was an opportunity to get a tune up on the Wet Coast. I sent my van with my son when he went to Vancouver and got the tune up done then. It was well worth waiting and getting it done by the guys that really know these things inside and out. Not to say there isn't somebody around here that could do a good job, but I wasn't up for experimenting.

Apparently CCautos on the island has block heaters that work with the Delica. To get at the area you want to install it, you have to take out the starter motor, which isn't too difficult. Phone Glen at ccautos, he'll be able to sort you out.
