Hello Everyone,
I have a Delica Exceed sitting in Vancouver waiting for soil inspection. I am getting a bit anxious re. all the talk of failed inspections. Has anyone any information on washing facilities at the port should a vehicle fail. I am hoping they manage to get it through before the month end.
Should I import another one I will have the underside steam cleaned. Maybe have the interior fumigated. An insect blaster is cheap enough. Then cleaned in Japan. I was quoted $120. for steam cleaning. Don't know about the rest though. Cheers, Jim

Always make sure your exporter cleans the vehicle before shipping, that said. it may or may not help... we are finding that inspectors right now are being stupidly strict (as in the dust that settles on it during transit may be enough to fail)

So far in BC it appears that a "fail" simply means that you must pay to have it cleaned, CBSA will let you know what places are allowed to do the cleaning (it's not just any normal car wash!)

Calgary is (to our knowledge) the only place SO FAR that is not allowing cleaning and forcing you to re-export the vehicles (starting 5 days from now...) but this may spread...

If it gets inspected by the end of the month, then I believe you're OK, because if it does fail you can simply get it cleaned here. We'll see what happens about July when supposedly new regulations kick in. It depends how much teeth they want to show out here in Vancouver...
