I found one of these in the glove box of Granola (Chamonix).

Replaced the batteries and it works great. Remote lock. Two buttons. Mitsubishi stamp on it.

Anyone else have one ?

I have one that came with the van but the range was not very good. Even when I changed the batteries I still had to be standing beside the door to unlock it. From what I understand they wear out. If you remove you driver's seat you might find two black boxes, one is smaller and made of plastic, one is bigger and made of metal. I have been told that the smaller one is for the locking system and that the bigger one is an auto start system. See if you can get your remote to start the van.

We have one and I have replaced the batteries twice. Around town it never works more than arms length from the truck but it works perfectly in the underground parking or a long way off the pavement.

When we are camping it will work 10-20 feet from the van so I have started to wonder if it operates on a frequency shared with something else in North America.

Once we parked near a radio repeater tower north of lund the doors started to randomly lock and unlock.

So with the stock remote lock system it operates the driver door too? That's interesting... so many little things I had no idea could be had on these!

I can't imagine the large box being a remote start? I've always wondered what that box is for.

My remote also seems to work on and off. When it decides to stop working it does not seem to be related to location or the batteries in it.

There is probably some potential there to integrate the existing system with an aftermarket one to extend the range, given that they probably alreay have the required selenoids, and relays or whatever in the circuit to move the locks.

I think maybe one of the delica parts suppliers should look into new remotes, after market ones from japan that are compatible or mitsu ones or something else I can't think of :). I can't remember what boxes if any that I have under my seat but I remember that there are 2 wire looms under there that are for that or for the option of the tv or tv/vcr. getting either anew remote that can be programed to work with or a new head unit and remote that plugs straight in would be pretty sweet.

Japan and North America use the same frequencies for these gadgets, 315 MHz. Interference is not generally a problem. Interference is a problem in Europe where they use 433.92 MHz, right in the middle of a ham radio band.

The allowable power output in Japan is much lower, which may explain some of what people are seeing. The test range is 5 meters, as opposed to 20 meters in Canada.

at that range you might as well use the key! I have a 2-way paging alarm with remote locks and starter, range? well... theoretically "1 mile" but we all know that doesn't really mean that in the real world, but I have never found anywhere where I could see the van and it didn't work, and when I can't see the van, well it seems to work for about 2 blocks in downtown Calgary, and a km or so in the forest in the mountains (though I did have it work for 5-6 km from the top of a mountain once (no, there was no good reason for it, I just decided to see if it would work))

My current remote works as far as a mile and an half (installed in Canada).
