Almost ready for work

Well, we did buy Hazel to replace the trusty but tired old Nissan truck as the heart of our gardening service, but just couldn't make her do it dragging the ratty old trailer so we got a new aluminium one! Picked it up in Coombs this afternoon on our way home from a weekend in Victoria. Now we just need a roof-basket and ladder and we're totally setup for working. It's lame, I know, but now that we have her we both really want to keep the delica as a pleasure craft that can stand in for work when the truck is down  Then, when the truck totally packs it in we will have to get another delica as a spare! (Spoken like a true rich North American! :-D ).

Hazel hoping she isn't seen pulling that scrappy trailer :?

That is one nice trailer! I'm sure your wallet is much thinner... but that is stylish!!! Well done. One day I'll post pictures of my trailer, it's smaller but soooooo clever! (it folds in itself!!!)

Cheers,
David

Hey thanks Delicat - Yeah, it was expensive, but worth every penny! And I'm waiting for those pictures of that folding trailer of yours - very intrigued. Wouldn't ya know it, the truck seized a brake the day after I posted those pictures so Hazel has been sluggin' it out with us a work all week. Very nice! It'll be a real step backwards using the old truck now 8-)

The last chore of the workday - it's "4:15" :? at the brush-pile. :-D

Another trip to Victoria on the weekend (where we only saw two other delis :o - Martycultural and a light blue / white with a yellow kayak headed west across the Johnson St. bridge) and another stop on our way home at Express Trailer / V. I. Imports - This time for a roof rack. We had a hour or so wait so we saddled up the bikes and took dog on a ride down the road to see ccautos Glen. When we told him what we were up to he cautioned us that the roof-racks from there are often installed without rubber pads! After a short visit with Glen we headed back and arrived just in time to ask that rubber pads be part of the installation - Thanks Glen! The rack is GREAT, though once we started down the road the hollow, open ended tubes on the corners started HOWLING - Really freakin' LOUD!!! Oh God! I stuffed some rags in them and we got home with our ears undamaged. I plan on filling these pan-flutes with expanding foam and will for sure call Express Trailer and suggest that they add caps - maybe I'll arrange having some retrofitted on a pass through on a Victoria trip. A really great addition to Hazel though and makes work (and caving - IF I ever get back out there ) that much more pleasant - Looks Bitchin' too!! 8-)
Here are a few shots of Hazel fully decked out and hard at work :M :-D

That Deli with the trailer looks really really "cool". I guess that's how we'll look if we decide to get one (deli). Pretty snazzy ride! Are you sure you want to dirty it up? :-D

Hey there,
Hazel is looking mighty fine with the roof rack and coordinating trailer! Very fancy.
I think you passed me on the Old Island highway the other day....though I was on my handcycle headed south (very low to the ground 3 wheeled arm powered bike...tricycles are where its at!) not in our Deli!
Kris mentioned she ran into you guys the other day. We should get together for a BBQ and beverage one of these days!
Later
Dave

That must have been me you saw on the Johnson Street bridge. My kayak is almost a permanent fixture these days.

Sorry, I don't recall seeing you guys. Must have been zoned out.

Great looking rig.

Steve

The final, outwardly visual anyway, update is complete! We had this ladder made at CR (Campbell River) Metals. They made a really nice roof rack for Paddlequest, but we found we saved $1000.00 getting the premade one from Express Trailer (V.I. Imports), even if the latter came a little rough and not detailed - the feel of a bit of a rushed job. Anyway, we went back to CR Metals for a custom ladder and had to endure a little "tsk, tsk" sniff over of the V.I. rack :? The ladder, if expensive, sure is well built - all edges smoothed, welds carefully tidied up, and so on. We like the look of it too, and it really does make the basket easier to use (I like how it frames the Delica.ca sticker). Sure need those new hatch struts though, as they only barely hold up the hatch now - barely... :M :-D

hey konadog,
Do you think you could throw up some picture of your gutter mounts.Im building a safari rack for myself and want the rack to hug the roof, which seems hard to come by on low roofs... which you have. A picture would make the designing easier.
thanks
