Is there a market for this...Delica specific WVO kits????

The reason I ask is I am putting together about 20 kits for a company with a bunch of Delicas and want to know if you guys are happy with the ones available. I am based out of Vancouver and my plan is to make a custom 1/8" wall aluminum fuel cell for the WVO that sits under the rear where the spare tire is. I know that there are many kits available but none of them have tanks for delicas. I also see issues with some of the kits, like using the cheap, not dependable pollak valves. The valves in my kits are the high quality hydraforce 3 port valves with viton seals that can survive high temp WVO.
Anyway I don't have a delica but I have put kits together for Hilux surfs like the one pictured below.
I feel that if I can create a bolt in aluminum fuel tank, quality parts and 'idiot proof' installation instructions along with competitive pricing then they will do alright. What do you guys think???
let me know
Andrew

That'd you have a few interested Delica owners right away.
Cool, that's a very professional, solid looking system!! Nice. Even the brackets look great.
Wouldn't happen to be interested in two WVO converted Delicas'?

I would be interested in knowing the pricing on the tank, I'm getting an elsbett system that is single tank but would like to add more tanks for more range.

Hi Andrew,
I'd be interested. Of course price is the main consideration, quality of parts, proven reliability, support etc etc.
From your photos though, it looks really neat and top quality.
Thanks.

Thanks guys, now to find the first Delica to model a tank off of...
anyone?
Also the heat exchanger in the tank will be a copper tube loom, I have about 6-8 feet of 3/8" pipe running throughout the fuel cell in my truck and it works very well. No 'Hotfox' is necessary especially when combined with a Vegtherm. The outside of the fuel cell actually gets hot rather then warm to the touch!!!! not bad in my eyes.
I am aiming for 1100-1200 with an aluminum fuel cell...fingers crossed I have done the math right

considering that most kits are around 1000 with a 'dodgy pollak valve' and a poly tank then I hope this looks good to most people. I am thinking this kit I put together will be comparable to the $1600 kits but with a custom aluminum tank for Delicas at a cheaper cost.

Hi AndrewH, You are welcome to come model off the TardisDeli. We live in Burnaby just off Gaglardi Exit, our house has plenty of room to dismantle and work on, 24 hour access so easy to schedule, and we have another vehicle so if the Deli is in pieces we are not stuck.
Cheers, Christine. Jay's cell 604-961-1390 up to 11pm daily.

I'll be buying a kit soon, and I like the looks of yours... sounds like you've got it pretty much figured out and the more local, the better. I'm interested in all the details, so any more info (filter system, control method, sensors included, etc) you can provide would be helpful in making a decision. I was thinking about skipping the in-tank heat completely in my system since the oil I'll be using stayed liquid when I tossed it in the freezer, but if it's included that's fine, maybe a manual valve can shut it off in the summer to prevent heating the oil too much.
I'm living in Coquitlam, but I go downtown quite often, so I can bring my Delica by for modeling... Mine has the sway bars, 2.25" rear exit exhaust (stock routing) and an E&H hitch (still allowing the spare tire cage to operate) so it's a good 'worst case scenario' if you're making a tank that's going to be used on 20+ slightly differently configured Delicas.

I am very interested in a Delica specific WVO kit. Having a ready to bolt in tank is a big deal. Any thought to making a spare -tire mount for the front of the bus as part of the kit? I'd buy that too. Thanks, I look forward to further developments on this, for sure!

Wow, this is great. lots of interest!
I will be making the tank to fit under the rear where the spare tire is located. I was lucky enough to go take a look at Delicat's Delica and it just doesn't look feasible to place the tank where the exhaust is. It can be done but to make a 'bolt-in' tank in that location would be next to impossible without welding onto the unibody frame (custom installs are possible though...)
The tanks will be approx. 20"x30"x8" and hold about 20-21 gallons.
let me know who is still game with the tanks under the rear as well as if there would be interest in a bracket that relocates the spare to the front of the vehicle. I realize this will block the fog lights that many of you have but I still want your input.

20x30x8 seems... is this not rectangular or are you doing it with rerouted exhaust? I found the exhause intruded a bit on my 30 inch wide mock up tank. I don't actually remember the exact measurements though...
