Added Piaa-4000 to bull bar

It's been awhile since I added anything,so here is what's new. I have an up coming trip in may and we are heading back out on the highway for another road trip. So I wanted some extra light for the night time driving. I ended up with the Piaa 4000 light kit.I just mounted it today and just connected it to power to see how it looks. I'll finish the proper wiring later( as well hook up the 2 marker lights) and I'll let you know how it works out.

I wanted to attach them to something solid but I did not want to drill into any metal. So with the aid of some muffler clamps, rubber and bracket it is not about to go anywhere. I will also use some stainless wire mesh and make a nice protective cage to encircle the lights so it will protect it from rock chips and those pesky thieves.

I'd like to see a close up of how you attached them to the bar. It looks a bit like cardboard underneath the clamps...

Cardboard?.....That would be a hack job!...Its actually brown package tape that I used over the layer of rubber( to hold rubber in place temp). Firstl,I wrapped rubber around the bar , then attached the muffler clamps. So that should prevent any damage to the bull bar. The package tape is off now and you just see black rubber. The clamps hold the rubber in place.

Hey looks great im going to do the same thing but drill holes in the bull bars to mount it would be a bit harder for u because your bar are cromed dipped im also going to try runing the ugly wires in the bull bars Cheers

Hey Pinkfingers, don't get me wrong, I thought the same thing when I took the picture. It made me laugh when someone else noticed it .
I agree Greenme, just takes one chip in the chrome and it rusts all to hell. I hate trying to run wires through everything, so putting them through the bars would be a slick way to go.

So how are they connected in relation to your existing lights? Do you choose to switch on either the white driving light *or* the yellow plasma ion from a switch you install inside when your low beams are on? What do the dual marker lights do and when are they supposed to be on? Do they supply a relay that switches them off with your high beams? (I've never been able to figure out what the logic is, why can you not have driving lights on with your high beams if you have to dim your high beams anyway when traffic is oncoming?)

Last, I thought I recalled reading in this forum awhile back the legal complexities of how many lights you can have, etc. I vaguely recall that you are only allowed no more than 2 driving lights and 2 fog lights. So if you leave the other fog lights on as well, I wonder if you could get busted?

Anyway, they certainly are awesome looking lights, I think they are probably a better investment than the LED's that I spent a similar amount on.

Piaa actually has bolt on light tabs in two different style (composite tubular mounting kits and aluminum tubular mounting kits). Check out the Piaa web site. I think North Shore Off Road has them.

Hey Sasquatch, thanks for the piaa bolt on tip. If I had to do it again I would more likely go for those.

JMK, the wiring harness that comes with them are pretty straight forward.I spliced the switch power into a wire that comes on when you actually turn on your lights at the steering wheel(I do have drl's) the switch then tells the relays(that were supplied) what to do....the clear marker light's get spliced into a park light....then the amber marker lights gets spliced into the signal light thats on the same side of the van.....The switch has 2 buttons, one turns on the lights and the other will switch between the driving light's or the fog lights......

As for having a number of lights on the front.....I put covers on the delica fog lights but I plan on replacing those with a couple of offroad flood lights( which will be covered as well). I'll keep the orig fog lights so they can be put back on if I ever sell.
