Hallo all! My name is Simon, I live on Vancouver Island, and I seem to be the new guy here. Please forgive me for and social gaffs I may make (and spelling errors), but this is the first forum I have joined. I am a truck driver, so many of you have probably passed me, and each time you do I always am struck about how the JDM vehicles stand out as something different.
Several people have recommended that I join this forum as I am researching JDM products, specifically Pajeros for our next family vehicle. Now I know that a Pajero is not a Delica, and if I was thinking right I'd get a Delica instead, but I like to have the motor in front of me so if I smash into something, something arrives before my legs and feet do.
And so the research begins. I am going to have to do some reading, because I'm sure these questions have been addressed, but bear with me as I write them down! I hoping to discover the highs, and the lows to owning something different. How easy is it to get parts? Are there any good mechanics in the area that know these products and work on them? Is it better to import a car direct from Japan and hope I don't get taken advantage of, or should I go with a local importer so that I can inspect and test drive the car? Are there any dealers to avoid? Is anyone on the forum running biodiesel?
As you can see I have alot to learn, so please be gentle. well off I go to read up and see if I can find some answers. I look forwards to chatting with all of you.
Cheers.
