The thread in the frame of one of the 2nd row seats in my L300 is stripped and needs re-threading (tapping?).
Anyone know of a machinist or anyone who can assist in the Vancouver BC area?

West Coast alignment and frame on Powell should be able to help you out. They re tapped something for me a couple months ago. Good people.

Shouldn't be too hard to tap it yourself. What size bolt was in there? Buy a tap for the next size up and give it a try. Canadian Tire has ok tap and die sets and they come in handy. Best to buy on sale of course. You could go to the next size up in SAE so you don't have to do any drilling. Check Google for info on tap and drill sizes. Since its a seat, if it doesn't work not a real big deal like if it was on the engine or something. If the bolt won't need to come out again, you could do a mediocre job, put some JB weld on the bolt threads and reassemble.

There's also these things called Helicoils. You drill the hole larger, cut threads with the supplied tap, then insert this stainless steel spring to end up with threads the original size.
