Hello! as most of you can relate i am deeply in love with my 89 L300! however recently on my way up to mt hood my zombie monster had a front break caliper lock up on me! and being that i am located in america, every shop looks at me like i am crazy and completely out of luck with being able to find a new caliper. so please please please! if you have any advice on where to look or anyone i can talk too about sending me parts i would be greatly indebted to you!

Welcome to club! You're going to have to learn to be devious. Most Parts counter guys don't know or care, the rest will be interested but won't have any idea how to look up a part for a JDM model. You'll find it easier if you figure out what you want in advance, and tell them what they need to hear.

There's a post in the FAQ regarding how to look up part numbers here, http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=17210, but to illustrate using your brake caliper as an example:

Throwing one of those numbers into Google brings up this Ebay listing which suggests that the left caliper, at least, was fitted to 103 other vehicles:

At this point you could order the parts from Ebay, but this is where the devious bit comes in: I'd call my local parts shop and say "I want a set of front calipers for a 1993 Dodge Ram 50 4WD SE 2.4l".

(That's a lie. I'd be stripping the calipers down (both of them), cleaning everything, and reassembling them with brake lube on the seals and silicone lube on the sliding pins. But that's just me.)

Deans Car Care seems like the only game in town here in Portland Oregon. At least I couldn't find any other Delica mechanics. They seem great on my one visit this month. Dean's great to work with.

just look for a mitsubishi montero. TheL300 has a couple sister vehicles. The montero for brakes balljoint tieroed ends stuff like that. And in the 80's dodge a ford used the 4D56 engine in the Dodge D50 and the ford Ranger. Of course everything is a little more difficult but if you think outside the box you're gonna be just fine

I had the same problem a few weeks back. I live in the Seattle area and the local O'Reilly's had front calipers in stock. You just have to give them part numbers. You can get all part numbers off the Wiki part of this forum.
