Hello

I am offering to come and help you install the E coded headlights and the DRL at your location (GVRD).

Probably about the same or maybe less than a garage would charge. If you go for the service make sure the DRL is soldered into the system and not spliced in with 'Quick Splice' connectors.

Daniel maybe you could post a diagram as to how you wire in the DRL just to boost confidence, and help the do it yourselfer's that make up the gist of the forum.

I would not be able to do the leak seal as one has to remove the panel above the light and that is a bit risky as it is easy to scratch the paint. The screws are really stuck and can cause further issues. Regarding the hook up I would be glad to solder the connections but find that to be a bit over kill as I seal the connections with automotive Goop and then wrap it in tape. Again if you rather that I solder I am glad to do so. I find it is better to use the old wiring harness as then the connection is done on the light where it is suspended, then there is little stress on the connection itself. If you have any issues with the connections within 18 months it will be redone at no further cost.
There is a very good link to how to seal the leak and I would be more then happy to show/help you to do that.
I'll send you images of the way that I do the connection if you email me.

I was unaware of the need to seal. As I'll be doing this myself in a week or two, what's up with that? Are the original factory pods sealed into place rather than just 'seated', or is sealing just recommended due to breaking the factory seating when the originals are removed? Can you just run a bead of clear silicone around it?

Sometimes there's very little choice for tapping the circuit but to crimp the quick connects into place due to cramped space to work in. However they have very little in the way of positive contact so what really gets them is the oxidization over time, and they end up 'burning out' or even the wire just drops off. Applying the goop to discourage that process is certainly the best thing to do if you have to go that route.

I just had Daniel help me get a GREAT set of perfectly fitting replacement headlights (DOT Standards) AND the Daytime Running Light module.

He even helped with the installation, the seals look good, the lights work great and they just passed compliance with no troubles!
It was done out on the street in front of my house by Daniel and myself, and we had it done in no time.

If you need help finding or installing headlights, and/or DRL modules give Daniel a call @ 778 865 8225.

Enjoy the ride!

Von

The seal is under the quarter panel and has nothing to do with the headlights other than you have to remove the headlights to get at the quarter panel to get at the seam to seal.

Yikes! I guess I'll bookmark that page and go back to it in the spring when it starts to melt around here, or before I make my road trip to the Island.

Also, on the accolades along the lines of, 'I never could have done it without so and so', I must also give credit to the guys that mentored me in this forum, without whom I couldn't have done it either. Too many to mention but ones that come to mind are Ruminante, Green 1, Schwa, crushers, sean, psilosin, BCDelica, MardyDelica, DelicaMark and lots of others too numerous to remember. Thanks to all you guys who've made the whole process from importng, brokerage, transport, conversions, etc., a lot less painful, indeed made it possible withal.
