tragedy in Montana

My girlfriend and I had just started our road trip of the states and the engine in our Delica over heated. Mechanic said that it was most likely a cracked head and that the engine is scotched. Right now it is sitting in a towing impound in Helena Montana. So its looking like I am going to need to replace the engine. Does anyone have some advice on the costs of a new engine and the install costs? Also some contacts of good Delica mechanics in BC and where I should look for a new engine? Thanks

Mardy has this one for sale in the Delica Trader. http://www.delica.ca/trader/index.php?p ... m40_Engine

Give him or any of the other suppliers such as CC Autos or Rising Sun a call.

You should seriously try here:
https://www.rxauto.com
It works. We have my friends diesel surf fixed with it. Going on a number of years with it and there is some threads of guys over in Australia who ordered it and it's been working for 4+ years.
Call them and they will ship it to you. Hardest thing is removing your thermostat in the l300 to run it in the system.
And hey.. If nothing else your trip will be saved and get you home. And no, I don't work for them.

Cracked head? Very likely. Need a new engine? Very unlikely. Unless you carried on driving until the whole thing seized solid, then replacing the cylinder head is a simple job for any mechanic and should be all that's required. A high quality (preferably OEM) head gasket is important though.
