The short answer is NO. JDM's don't come into Canada meeting all the DOT requirements for Canada. When you talk to the registry office and tell them you are importing a JDM they should be giving you a bunch of paperwork for the registration process you must follow and al the stuff you need to know before hand.
A short list of some requirments:
- E Code Headlights for Canada: JDM lights point to the left side of the road......kinda in the faces of oncoming Canuck drivers.
4 stick on reflectors. 2 amber(front fender - side location) and 2 red (rear quarter - side location) so that your deli is visible while parked.
Broken windshield and cracks that are in the drivers point of view are a no-no
Rusty exhaust system that has holes/weak spots..
Tires: Some are DOT Canada compliant, some are not. Best to verify before your mandatory Out of Province inspection.
Basically anything that compromises safety is going to be identified. A reputable shop that knows the JDM import rules can advise....Who are you buying it through?
