This is a question regarding the kamparoo design. We are looking at getting one and I was curious how they store when wet. Does it get the mattresses wet?

I understand that you have to clean the floor (sweep or what have you) before you flip it back to prevent the stuff on the floor from dumping on the bed.

I can see the tent needing to be put away wet and was wondering this.

I had a chance to demo 2 different Kamparoo units from a dealer in Camrose AB. A basic model with no vestibule (large canvas extension) and one with the outdoor kitchen unit and vestibule.

Both were folded up when wet as the last day was raining. Funny how that happened 2 years in a row on the same day.?.?.?

We wiped the floor dry and folded it up while the canvas was wet. When we got home we opened it up and let it dry for a few hours before closing it again. Slick design, quick setup really liked the kitchen with water tank. Would have been nice if it had a heater to take the edge off the cold mountain air.

My Xterra got better fuel economy towing the Kamparoo trailer than it did with no trailer 1MPG difference. The low profile unit was barely noticed.

Thanks. So it doesn't get the mattress wet packing it up while canvas is wet?

The inner canvas layer would touch the mattress so its not very likely water would get on the pad....however I would be more concerned with leaving it closed for weeks while wet because molds would grow on the wet canvas and 'that smell, never goes away completely.

Its like any tent trailer, stow when dry so molds don't get started.

We bought a kamparoo trailer. So far, luvin it! Only dragged it 600 km so far but it hasn't affected fuel mileage at all. 2011 off road!

Sweet mobile abode Firesong. Did you get the kitchenette as well?

No, but that's ok. The kitchenette takes storage space away. I have plans for that space :)

I love it so far. It was funny because we were geocaching and my wife says 'there!' I wheel off the main road down a quad trail onto a path. No worries about the trailer. Very cool!

Awesome set up! Let's see some more pics of the inside now. I really like how high it is. Is that because it is the off road version?

Cool! Are we FINALLY getting Australian style campers available in Canada? I've been drooling over some of their designs since 2004 when I first thumbed through an Australian 4WD Monthly magazine.

I like that magazine too. So many awesome products that I would consumerize the poop out of. When I can scrounge up the $20 in bottle money to buy one it always gives me hours of great bathroom reading. Plus I would like to get Roothy to come over here and do up my van right!
