Merry christmas.Anybody have any tips to prevent doors getting frozen shut. My sliding door is the worst. Sometimes it won't budge even from the inside. Cheers

my sliding door is totally frozen right now, cant be bothered to loosen it up. I am going to hose the seal down with IPA (isopropyl alcohol) first to de-ice it so it will open. then I am probably going to use either vaseline or DC-4 on the seals to prevent them from getting iced up when they get cold again,

you can also use winter windshield washer fluid to deice the seals, if you don't have access to a large amount of IPA.

You can also massage all your door seals with dialectric grease. The seal will absorb the grease and cause them to plump up. Works good for the side windows that may leak. It an old trick used by the hotrodders.

There are a few coin operated carwashes that have blowers/dryers so I always dry my locks, door seals, hinges and the wiper blades to reduce freezeups in winter.

If I do get a frozen door I hit the mall with underground parking and let it thaw out for a few hours.

Silicone spray is best as a preventive measure as it will repel water. I use it on my drysuit zipper when I go ice-diving so I don't get trapped in my suit due to a frozen zipper after the dive.

Hey, don't forget about good 'ole PAM non stick cooking spray!! The butter flavour works better as its greasier lol.

Seriously though, I've used it and it does help:) and I'm having the same problem so I decided to go to Key Largo which is where I am now.
