We have a search engine.
We have numerous posts on everything Delica.
The question is: how to correctly use the search engine?

Even though the answer is likely here, I often give up searching and just ask the question because the search either brings up waaaay too many posts to rummage thru or else I've failed to phrase my question in just the right way.

For example. right now I'm wiring up propane injection on my '94 L400 and I need to tap into a 30 amp, (edit: incorrect figure; only 1 amp is drawn) "key on only" power source. (Ignition off = no juice). Although I'm sure this is quite elementary for anyone with even a general aptitude for such things, I'm not electrically inclined and so need advice on this. There's very likely something buried in the site but finding it has eluded me so far.

Your help on either using the search itself or on locating a suitable power terminal would be appreciated.

You might have to run a dedicated 30 amp circuit using a relay controlled by ignition that way you know it won't screw anything else up. 30 amp is a big supply

agreed. I used 2 relays for my light bar(forward and reverse), 5 100 watt lights draw almost 30 amps. better to run a seperate line to not melt any small wires if you do it wrong...

thats over 40 amps you have running there not almost 30.

Correction:

I was incorrectly assuming 30 amps and it turns out I was wrong. I had seen no mention of amperage anywhere in the instructions or anywhere else other than the embossing on a generic looking connector. Then I checked on the shut off solenoid itself and saw "1.0 A max".

Fortunately, Jesse gave me an easy explanation of how to wire it up too. As follows:
Under front of main fuse box there is a fat bundle of wires wrapped in black tape. Inside that bundle there are three black wires with blue stripes. The three wires are connected in three different ways.
One is always on.
One is on when key is in accessory mode.
One is on when ignition is on.

By using your keys and checking each wire with a circuit tester you can determine which is what.

Simple!

you are correct, P=IV...500w=I*12....I=41.67amps
well maybe there is enough line loss (seems unlikely), but when I do have all the lights on(once in a blue moon, 3 forward, 2 reverse), a 30 amp fuse works, a 25amp fuse does not.

I would call this one like a FunDip. You have your choice of two tasty flavours, and either choice is OK because even if you make the wrong choice and the dip doesn't tickle your fancy the dipping stick is still a taste sensation.

I think its a combo question leave it be

Probably L400 tech. But it pertains directly to propane injection.

With that in mind... you can see where I've cut the bundle open. (I've tapped in and re-taped the whole thing... 'nother pic to follow later.)





Propane Injection is all wired in now. Thanks to Jesse.

Next mission and final step for this project: The tank. Will keep you posted.
