hello- I'm buying a delica. really soon. tomorrow like. I'm buying it from a reputable mechanic, who says its a solid machine. it's been neglected for a few months and there are some cosmetic issues but all in all solid.
he lifted it up so I could take a look and I noticed the tail pipe and the step on the passenger side were rusty- like holy rusty. I'm not too concerned about replacing those because this this is a good deal. so question:
1) can someone please post a pic of the undercarriage of one of these so I know what "normal" looks like? I haven't looked under too many vehicles so it all looked worse than I imagined it would...

Hi Emma, welcome. Rust ... hmmm... I usually say RUN dont buy a rusty vehicle, it is like an iceberg if you see a bit then there is 99 percent more that you can't see. I would be happy to look under a delica with you, to show you stuff, but this week is bad for me (next week is fine). Where are you/the L400? I'll come check it out for you if you'd like an unbiased 2nd opinion.

I've done extensive rust repair and know what to look for.

Hi Emma, I see jesse farsang has kindly offered his help, I recommend you try to meet up with him, I certainly trust his opinions (and I am a very fussy Delica owner). Cheers, Christine.

If you need a pre purchase inspection, take it to specialized shops as they are responsible for an inspection report they do.
They inspect all things, pretty much over 40 points.
I would recommend Japanoid and CVI.
If you have a problem to move the car for any reason, we can do it for you with free towing/moving.

exhaust and side step rust should not be much to worry about.....Chassis rust is a concern...
