Hello! I have searched this forum for manual hubs. And I know lots have switched to them, I just cant find any part numbers or any place where to get them. Last spring it felt like my van was cutting in and out of 4wd Auto hubs) when driving. And now this year they are humming and grinding and i am not sure if they are engaging or not... anyways a point in the right direction would be awesome!

Thanks!

Darren

Is that a copy for Aisin? From boxes, I smell Mitsubishi logo.
Do you know the place of origin?

Aisin Corp. does not manufacture FHM-003 Mitsubishi free wheel hubs any more. Last production was with Dodge and Mitsubishi in 1989 (for factory hubs). These are marked with a vertical stamping on the outer ring gear. The original Aisin's are identifiable this way. You can rebuild them over and over again.

There are 6 or more companies that purchased the rights to sell under the Aisin OEM mold:

They are all Aisin copies sold under Isuzu, Mitusbishi, Suzuki, Toyota, Asco, Yijia, (blank).

In 07 or 08 one of those years we had a meet and I brought four different Aisin labelled Mitsu hubs. Whichever one you buy, you are getting the same casing and internals. They are identical except for the paint, name stamp, the box it came in and the price ranging from $135 - $650 online global pricing.

The first picture is a genuine Aisin hub from a Mitsubishi pickup truck (80's). The 2nd is a brand new Aisin (2011) hub (paint scheme) for Toyota. They still manufacture them as they come standard/optional on factory Toyota's (mainly cruisers). 3rd picture is 1990+present Aisin copy with name stamp. The 4th, is a copy comparison to a genuine (both 1980's). Same casing, different paint scheme. Out of all of them, they are all identical except for the name, paint and the gear notch (80's OEM identifier).

The one single issue with these is supply and demand. In most countries, demand outweighs supply hence the price variance. I wouldn't be surprised if the US distributors are all sold out as the Montero is uber popular and the hubs are sought after down there. This puts whoever can stock these in a good position.

In a nutshell, as a consumer it doesn't matter where they come from or how they are boxed.
